I am really looking into getting a synthesizer....I would of course be new to the scene and would not have the slightest clue for what to look for. Just wondering if anyone could help me out on finding a quality snythesizer that is not too expensive...say between $600 and $1000. I have been looking at the Roland RS-5 and the Korg MS2000...Thanks a ton!

Uh...you rang?

'Course, even though I was a professional musician before they were built, I never touch those old synthesizer thingies with actual rotary knobs and patch points and such . . . I didn't like Elvis, either.

ion 12, what kind of music do You want to make? The MS2000 is not a synth for everything, it can't emulate natural instruments. But it sounds nice and is more or less easy to program. But it only has four voices. The RS-5 can emulate nearly every instrument, has 64 voices but isn't easy to program.
If You don't need a sequencer I would choose a Roland XP-30, if a sequencer is needed a XP60 or 80. But You'll need to buy them second hand, because otherwise they'll be too expensive.

I had an XP-30 and an MS2000r. In my opinion, I thought the MS2000r was way better sounding, especially for synth bass stuff. Way easy to programm, and it has a really kickass vocoder, way better vocoder then the NOVA vocoder. The MS2000r is very affordable now too. But hey, there is alot of people hear who'll disagree with me. Try em out for yourself, tell us what you think!
