It's a pity that there is no demo or testversion, or any other way to try before buy. (The software is at a quite high price level.)
I find it a bit strange that customers have to ask for the software updates at the forum as long as there is dedicated pages for 'software owners only'.
But as far as I can see at the forum, Dan gives the customers really great support and service.
Btw, Klaus at EMC offer a '4 days working demo version' if someone ask for it. But anyway, a demo version don't necessarily have to be complete to give a clue about how it works on the equipment possible buyers use.
Just sayin'.

I can understand not having testversions..

Most users in asia and the arabic world allready using pirated versions...
You have to be carefull as a small company involving software releases

Thats a good thing from ipad, no piracy...

I think an ipad version with build in store, could make more money then the current windows version..

I remember Dan tried it a few years ago and yup, that's what happened. It is the same old story of a few bandits ruining it for the rest of us.

Gunner,
I have used Dan's vArranger for about 6 years and can tell you it is worth the price. I use it with the older Ketron SD2 unit. Through the years Dan has provided me with THE VERY BEST user support I have gotten from any company. It is best used with a touch screen PC laptop and if your midi controller has knobs, slider, and buttons they can extremely easy be programmed with Dan's software to totally control the software.

Sorry, it doesn't make much sense to me. It is the same old story - the only ones penalized are the honest possible customers who can not test before buying. Those who would want to use it unauthorized will do it anyway...

wink Complicated issue. I tend to like better the software that is not too expensive and encourage people to be honest by attractive pricing. I am not saying vArranger should be cheaper, but I think, in general, out of ten people probably 7 will rather pay 50 bucks and use the programme legaly than have a price of 200, only two will pay and the rest will use pirated versions.

I would like to test vArranger btw.

Yes, I know you're using vArranger, also seen your YT video showing your setup as well as many other users.
But look at video is one thing, to be able to fool around into the software is another.
I was close to buy vArranger, even bought an Akai MPK 261 to use, but since there was not possible to get a demo,
I calmed down and sold it again. We'll see later, it's a very interesting software, and it's a huge amount of
different styles in my archive to test out.
Anyway, tnx for the input Deane.

The problem is that the market for virtual arrangers is so small that having a lower price might mean you can not make a living of it..

I agree. Even though it has been a while since the last update, we should keep in mind the countless hours behind the scenes in creating the elements. Also, keep in mind that all the former improvements have been free. This is the first time Dan has opened the door for a voluntary donation. This superb program is more than worth the price of admission.

When I did mention that the software is at a quite high price level, it was not because I don't think it is worth it.
I guess you can't return it, or that there is any 'money back guarantee', so to taste the goodies before buy would be a good thing.
I'm sure it would gain the sales, trigger the 'want to have' feeling, sort of speak.

EMC XT is not low cost software either, and the price was the same many years ago when I bought it.
If not the option to try before buy, a friend and myself would never buy 2 brand spesific and then 2 XT licenses at all.
Not as active for quite some time until now, but Klaus also offer free updates and support, just the same way as Dan does.
Well, not quite similiar, EMC don't have a dedicated forum. wink

Thank you for talking about the new vArranger version 1.19 smile

This update go further with the integration of a microphone/stereo input , SFZ (and SF2) samples loading, and improve the VST host support of vArranger, with flexible routing of VST instruments to VST plugins, etc...

We always add more and more options to the player, and we have still a lot of ideas for the future

We don't provide demo version, but we have money back return possible during 30 days for real musicians. (not other curious people with bad intentions...)

Tnx for the info Dan. Good to know.
Since I don't perform as a 'real musician' at gigs anymore, I'm probably one of those to put into the ( .... ) grin

Can you guys play the Korg Pa4x styles properly? Styles are getting much harder to convert even barely reasonably lately.

I still need to decode the special guitar mode notes for korg styles that are actually muted
The other tracks should sound OK, but many internal styles use a drumkit that is mapped differently than GM. There are some solutions for this... depending on the setup and what you want to do

Hi Dan,
I've not used the vArranger that I bought before due to my need of a one in all module that I don't need to hookup a vocal processor/harmonizer and sound module. If you can remember, I requested for vocal input feature before. Now you said that you included a mic input now. So, does it has already vocal effects like reverb, echo, doubling already? Is my license eligible for this update?
Thanks

Hi Dan,
How did you go with the Technics styles?
Haven’t been around for a few months, so wasn’t sure if I may have missed something.
It was a bit of an unusual keyboard, so did they cause problems.

Yes Jim, Now you can use the vocal input of vArranger, and add reverb chorus and delay + any VST plugin on your voice !
The next step will be to implement a vocal harmonizer vst that follow midi notes smile

You can receive the update for free, just put a word on the vArranger 1.19 forum topic. the same for rikki

smile All good guys! And I not even saying vArranger should be cheaper - it is already half the price of a good hardware arranger.

I am talking just about the principles.

BTW, how would you determine who is a serious musician so they qualify for the money back option?! As opposite of being bad people with mean intentions.

But future sounds good for sure - looking forward for vocal harmony implementation.

I just hope the GUI will change a little bit into a more modern design. wink

Hi Jim,

Dan already mentioned that if you want the download link of vArranger2 1.19.01, you should visit the following vArranger discussion forum thread and leave your request there. Then Dan will PM you the download links of vArranger2 1.19.01 and the corresponding vArrangerSynth program.

vArranger2 1.19 release thread:
https://www.varranger.com/vforum/index.php/topic,3801.0.html

First up Dan, thank you for sending my update out so quickly.

Second, I gather you must have access to a PA4x to be able to do what you do?
