Question: How close is this to adding pads?
The big problem with pads is their poor selection.

These are much more than pads. Yes, we do have 'virtual' pads on the screen which you can touch to trigger (turn on/off, edit ... etc) but that is all they share in common. The pad control features hidden behind each pad is where the "magic" happens. You can also program a pad to control other pads ... as will be shown in videos forthcoming.....

Hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

What Bruno means, is this feature needs to have some drum pads..

To make it really perfect..
16 drum pads
and 16 tracks
and 16 scenes
and you can use the drum pads to either select tracks
or to select scenes
Or all those other great things drum pads can be used for.

But all in all, i hope this video helps to convince people of the usefullness of the launchpad. For me this is a game changer in the keyboard world.

I never realised you can switch style variations in the launchpad witouth switching scenes.

Maybe in a future product .... maybe.....
But what are the advantages of physical pads over those we currently have on the touch screen ....besides being able to use with a "hammer"?

Hi AJ,

Does Ketron SD9 / SD90 support external USB MIDI control surface like the Korg NanoPad2 to configure the 16 pads as triggers?

Thanks,
Paul

This could be great..
The nano pad works very nice in combination with my kronos
Also with my pa4x, but that makes less sense to me...

But with the launchpad... this would be an awesome thing..

The nanoPad2 is hardly useful with the Pa4x. It's a wonderful little controller that I use a lot for everything else but not so much with the Pa4x.

Here's why. You can only assign a single PC message to one pad. An example would be functions such as Intro, Var1, Ending 2....etc. Not exactly useful, because you already have dedicated buttons directly on the panel for these Style Elements. You can't use it to select sounds and styles, because with the nanoPad2 you can't assign a string of PC/LSB/MSB to the same pad...meaning you would have to press at least 3 different pads in succession in order to get something selected!

The Genius award goes to whomever thought that was a good idea!

I made a setup on the kronos that allows the nanopad to send those variations/intro/ending to the PA4x... so i dont have to reach all the way up to the pa4x.

I think both Kronos as well as Montage should have had 16 pads build in..
