The first time I heard this I fell in love with it. Even Chas would like this one (I think.).

Why wouldn't I like it? Everyone here knows I like Willie (the singer and the person) and of course I like the song (as I do most standards). I really like simple but honest treatments of great songs.

Love that song. Thought Willie did a great job... and the Blues Harp Player certainly brought Nelson's "signature" to this old standard. I noticed in one brief clip, Willie was playing a guitar, not sure it was that thing he drags around, held together with spit, chewing gum and bailing wire... LOL... and was even more surprised to learn he didn't actually write it. This man has more than 2000 songs in his Repertoire and Catalogue... recorded by hundreds of top notch artists.

Thanks for sharing, Gary... and I wasn't surprised that Chas liked it too! (Like the rest of us!)

All the best, you made my day. ----Dave from West Mayberry

Dave ... Yes, it looks like "Trigger" ...
I would think the guitar players on this board would find this video especially interesting

This is Willie's third or fourth album of classics. For many people, especially younger ones, he was their introduction to these standards, starting with Stardust.

Thanks for sharing those video clips with us, Tony:

"Trigger" always appears to be on "life support" and now we know the rest of the story. I met Jerry Reed at the Crockett Springs Golf Course near my home in Brentwood, TN many years ago and he was just as entertaining in life... as he was on screen. (Wonder if he kept the Baldwin or had it's pick-up re-purposed on a Martin like Willie?)

Mason, I'm really enjoying the 970. It has a steep learning curve for an old geezer used to something without as many "bells and whistles" but patience and persistence are beginning to "pay off" with decent recordings now. (If only I could borrow your vocal capabilities!)

Have a great day, guys. I'm off today to play some chess down at the "square" with the rest of the "geezers."

LOVE to play the tunes on the album Tony posted, behind a good singer or horn player.

NEAT STUFF!
