I live 100 miles South of Tampa, on the coast, and it is passing us now. I don't like to see anyone hit, but in 2004, Charley was steaming up the coast toward Tampa when a pressure ridge moved it right into Punta Gorda. So far, a few bands are close, but staying out in the Gulf.

Our latest hurricane alert says Peak Wind Forecast is 15-25 mph with gusts to 30 mph. I hope this is the worst it gets. We are on the west side of the storm so will get the lightest hit.

Scott, we have similar winds forecast for this Friday, and for me, I love it - great sailing weather.
Donny, there is an enormous amount of sensationalism that always takes place with the weather prognosticators - you know that! Get a tall glass of ice cubes and cover the ice with honey bourbon.
