Hello All,

I would very like to purchase Fred's new KN-SD Explorer tool but despite clear and precise details on how to purchase this using PayPal, I am experiencing problems opening an account with them.

I have tried several times. Once I actually got the message that I was registered and would be receiving confirmation by e-mail after which I could use the account and send on the payment to Fred, but I heard nothing from Paypal.

When I try to use this method of payment, I am told they do not recognise me and ask if I have forgotten the password. (I did write the details down as suggested and repeated these when requested).

In desperation, I ticked the box asking if I had forgotten the password and received some jumbled letters and a message asking me to type these in the box, which I did but it bounced back with a message to try again. Once again I ticked the box 'forgotten password' received yet another set of letters to type in the box, but no luck.

Both Fred and I are very frustrated at PayPal's lack of performance and I am wondering whether anyone else is having, or has had this trouble (which seems to be at the password stage every time).

I'd appreciate any help on this as the one and only time I got through to them I had given all relevant private details, including bank account over the net and as you can imagine it is causing some concern not knowing what has happened to this information.

Audrey, I had similar problems with PayPal but was successful sending money to Fred from the PayPal home page by sending the money to his email address rather than using the link provided at his page.

John, I tried the software with a computer using Windows ME and it would not work in that machine. I then installed in a machine with Windows XP and it worked perfectly.

It is an excellent tool.

I loaded the SD Explorer program seemingly without a problem.

When I try to run it I get the message that there is a file format error and so I can't seem to use the program.

I've had loads of problems with PayPal. I sent many emails to them, both direct and using their website response form. They have not even had the decency to reply to any of them. All I get is a machine generated acknowledgement message, in response to an email, originated on their website.
Fred's SD-Explorer tool works fine for me - I have XP on the PC I use with my KN7000.

The program is compatable with 2000 and XP as stated on Freds web page. When Fred gets a computer with Win 98 he will work on 98 compatability.

My only problem was using a USB 1 reader and my computer has a USB 2 Hub. The program worked but with many error messages. Purchased a PNY USB 2 reader and the program works wonderfull.

Thank you all for your replies. It is re-assuring to know that it isn't all my fault (I have to admit sometimes it is).

For your info, I use Windows XP Home Edition and have even updated to the SP2 system thinking it might help but to date, haven't had any luck. It is so disappointing as I was really looking forward to receiving this new tool. I have kept up to date with Fred's postings and what all you friends on this forum have to say and it sounds very exciting so, I will keep on trying.

Will let you know if and when I am successful.

Thanks again to each and everyone of you.

Hello All,

Here is PayPal's answer to all messages in the thread!!!! PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY!!!
THANKS!!!!

Dear Fred Mellink,

Thank you for contacting PayPal. We apologize for the delay in
responding to your service request.

I apologize for any frustration you have experienced. However, After
reviewing the button on your site I did not see anything noticeably
wrong with it. I went through the process as much as I could without
actually paying and all worked just fine. I did read what your
customers had said and by the sounds of the first one it looks like
they did not get a notification of payment we send out. At this time
our system is up and running fine, so I would recommend that they check
spam folders, bulk mail folders and the spam filter settings to make
sure we are not being blocked. The second person sounds like they have
a PayPal account already and are trying to use the same email to create
a new one. In that case you would direct them to contact us so we can
help them gain access to there account. Please do not solely rely on
emails, email is not 100%. We ask you to reference your PayPal account
history at least twice a week to get definite sale information.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
again.

Sincerely,
Steve

Hello All,

One of our customers was so desperate and tried all ways via PayPal to purchase our tool. So at the end he sent a bank check of $51.00. Since our banks in the Netherlands close too early it was until yesterday that my wife was able to go to the bank and submit the check to transfer it to my account. Well, I was really shocked because the bank transfer fee was 12.50 Euro ($15.50) so 30% of our pricing. Ridiculous!!!!

However the lady at the counter toold me that it must be possible to transfer money from any bank account to my internet bank account I have at my Bank.

Now before I am going to take out the PayPal buttons of the website and change it into info of direct bank transfer I want proof that it works. So I seek somebody who wants to purchase our tool via this way. Please send email and I will give you my bankaccount info. Thanks for helping solving this problem.

for what it may be worth.
When I had the Synthzone technics jam here in California and people from all over the world sent me checks, I took them to my retail bank and they came up with a similiar fee for out of country checks.
They sent me to a commercial bank that does not charge a fee for this. It happens to be Bank of America here in California. I had to open an account to get the checks cashed without a fee. The Bank of America would not cash the checks unless I had an account with them. I had a friend cash them for me that had an account with Bank of America.
Hope this info helps both this thread and those that are setting up the Technics Jam in Florida

Bebop,

We thank you and I am sure Fred does to.

Have you tried the KN7000 Explorer?

Hope you can make our Jam. We are slowly meeting our capacity, and after New years it won't take long.

Hi All,

AfFirst the good news: after some study I found that PayPal is still the cheapest. When having difficulties because of email account that is considered suspicious (like @zwallet.com, @msn.com, @hotmail) then take a free yahoo, moomia or refercentral email adress and you won't have that problem. Further news is that for payment you don't have to take a (Free) account at PayPal. My account is such that you can directly pay, using a credit card. I have to pay a relatively small fee to receive such payments, so that will work.

Then also some sad news:
1. My partner, Gert Jan, is ill; he has the flue. Moreover MS doesn't support its old Win98 and ME operating systems in any ways. The documentation is bad or missing or inconsistent. We seek ideas for solution of Win98 compatibility problems on developer forums, but nobody answers. Unfortunately also nobody replies on the Newsletter that my friend Kenneth has sent out. Compared with the results of market research our 'installed base of customers' is disappointingly low. Last week I sent out the upgrade, version 1.10 to our customers. I hope for everybody that this version won't have to be the final version. However even if it isn't, I expected that development progress will be reduced. Since the release I have been working for the tool: testing, handling emails, creating FAQ and tutorial pages, etc. almost every evening until after midnight. (Joan knows)
This all resulted into too much stress. So I will take it easier now.
And to be honest I am seriously thinking about raising the price of the tool in 2005 to some extent. So people have time to purchase the tool for the modest fee until after Christmas.

Hi, I plan to purchase your program. I held off because of all the problems with the PayPal. I have a PayPal account, I only used it once over a year ago. So not sure I know what to do with it. I don't purchase much over the internet. It sounds like Pay Pal is now working for you, so maybe I shall get brave and try it.

Fred, I have received ver. 1.10, thank you. I am purchasing a second SD card to use for experimenting -- I know I can back up my original SD card, but I'd rather use a new card.

I will get back to you, John C.
