I am thinking of setting up a new rig using an arranger module of some kind, BK7m, SD40, SD60 etc,..
which would allow me to select whatever controller, 61, 76, 88, etc, or a keyboard Hammond SK1, Roland, VR09, Roland A800 pro I prefer to play,.....
or maybe just for home use with my computer VSTs go this way.

Or just stay with my S970 all in one? confused1

One of those days? smile

You would improve your sound with a Ketron... The quality of the sound of An SD arranger/module would easily surpass the PSR..

An 88 key hammer action controller... are you nuts? You wouldn't last an hour... grin

If you were serious, I might be persuaded to sell my Code61... smile

But only if you intended to keep it... I am not interested in "dumping" it grin

My problem right now...I have too much, and a lot of great gear sits without playing..

My only solution is to redo my music room and set up a more practical studio.. Gear would still sit but access would be quicker..

Nah.. I don't feel like setting up another project.. smile

So maybe the Code61 is available.. shocked

If you were gigging more... the all in one arranger keyboard is the best concept.. even a PSR grin

If you want yo improve the quality of sound The Ketron SD module and a good controller would do the job.. but studio use only (at home)..

It would keep you occupied for years.. with a learning curve you could only imagine eek

Thank you Fran as usual you talked me out of it, who am I kidding?,...a Great Sounding S970 man I remain keys ....

If it sits it's GONE FAST but you know that I broke that
BAD GEAR Addiction Habit many years ago and learned my lesson well. cool2

for now wink coffee

FOR ME (stress ‘for me)’, I’ve heard and/or played many of the currently available arranger keyboards and modules. I feel that Ketron, still has the best live, in-your-face-sounds. I still use the Midjay Plus for it’s simplicity to operate among other things including the sounds. I would get the SD40 IN A HEART BEAT if I could use it like the MJPlus … If I didn’t have to spend weeks re-editing my hundreds of files … Don’t mind remaking registrations, but I now use midi files more and more. For me, the HD in the SD40 is far too limited and the OS is far more complicated than my old MJPlus. But, if I had the time and inclination, The size, weight, screen size, sounds, styles etc. of the SD40 are very appealing. My 2 cents …
Ciao,
Jerry

Lovely combo...

Altough that link is to the old version..
The new version gets released on oktober 1st..

I don’tt hink however, that you will feel at home with vst’s
Even i only use them next to a hardware keyboard...

I think a roland vp key, nord stage 3 compact(73 organ type keys) or hammond sk1 will suit you much much better...

Of those 3 only the nord has easy access and direct controll over the external (ketron) parts when used with an sd40..

Fun facts to know. For all the videos we have been posting (except the one above) we are using a Komplete Kontrol S61 MKII. We are only using it as a dumb MIDI controller. Haven't had the need or desire to attempt to map any of the various MIDI controllers.

Donny,
I just ordered my Ketron SD90 module to replace my Ketron SD7 keyboard. All my gigs are "one-nighters" so to speak and I'm tired of hauling the keyboard around 4 and 5 days each week when I can get the same results with the module. I have a Roland A-800 Pro midi keyboard I have been using with Dan's vArranger and it will work great with the SD90. Sorry to say getting older rather dictates what equipment I should be using.

If all I did was play at home I would use the keyboard.

Major update: I will pick up Deane's SD7 Sunday and the Korg PA4X, as much as I love it, will be on its way to Uncle Dave. Win Win Win situation!
I suppose I am just needing something different, and I hope by now Ketron has most of the bugs out of the SD7. Deane says it is completely stable now.

The Double “D’s“ are stirrin’ things up on SZ again. Donny...I think your good with the 970. For the money...it’s hard to beat. Those Ketron modules are pricey!

Don...keep us posted on the SD7. I know you had one before. Hopefully, it fills your needs. If not...I’m sure you’ll use your Southern charm to wheel and deal.

Thanks for the excitement guys!

The money is never the issue if I want something like this I buy it if I don't like it I dump it simple as that we'll see I have to really think about this one for my needs now.... it's rich I'm comfortable with the 970 it's my second one and I have it all set up for my needs...

Don, the SD7 is only 12 pounds lighter than my G70 smile

Will that be a problem for you, or you still look for steady set up gigs?

I noticed the sound banks of the SD7 are the same as the SD1000... accept the SD7 has the 46 RAM sounds (they are great).
Once I played the RAM sounds I didn't want to go back to the standard sounds grin

Same problem I have with the BK9.. it has only 22 Supernatural acoustic sounds... superior to the other sounds.. Wishing for more..

The Roland Integra7 is in my sights now... 256 acoustic SN sounds and all the SRX sounds.. I have to see how compatible it will be with the G70, BK9 and software arranger I have.. smile

I want to use Supernatural sounds in my styles and Sequences..
I can only imagine how great they will sound with SN sounds each sound with it's own insert effects.. also 24bit 96khz sound..

Looks like we all get an itching for something new grin

Donny, why not add an sd2/4 or sd1000 to get ketron sounds along with 970's functionality? Smaller investment to experiment with..small footprint..

Once a Ketroner ....always a Ketroner.

It's my hope that all of those with Ketron gear and soon to have Ketron gear will collaborate with us to make them even better.

To those who have/are collaborating with us, thanks for your support.

Which makes me wonder, what happened to the 46 ram sounds in the sd9/sd90?
They are not on the specsheet...

Its nice to see how some good demo’s revived everyone’s interest in Ketron..
Its the talk of town, every toppic this weeks ends in discussing the lovely ketron arrangers

That will end the minute something else NEW arrives
or rumored it's always the case. lets see how many take a chance on the new SD9, SD60 etc, so we can get feedback from real players.

Rumor all you want. I've learned my lesson. I won't buy anything until it's tested, tried and corrected. Six months to a year after they are available.

There's a new keyboard coming out pretty soon. I thought about pre-ordering it, but I said to myself no. I am not going to even mention the model and add to the rumor. I just want to agree with others that I am also going to wait and see how it really performs.
