Do you think he can fold hos whole keyboard and stand into the case and then just close it?

That stand looks similar to my K&M stand, which has longer feet for balance, but makes it too big for a normal sized case.

Good use of his heavy-assed hard-shell case. Provides great advertising and block the view of all the wires, pedals etc...

He's using a conventional PA system, wires are running everywhere, and because of his PA, he needs that monitor in his face. His setup time must be horrendous, and I noticed he has a guitar hanging up behind him on those gym bars. This is anything but a "Kool Genos Setup" Donny. To me, it looks like a nightmare setup.

All the best,

Gary cool

Gary how he sets up isn't the question.....
what it looks like to the audience is.

The thing I noticed, and liked, is he has his revolving light globe on the floor behind him reflecting on the wall. I used to use the same light, but had complaints from seniors about shining in there eyes. I will resurrect it and place it on the floor behind me.

PS: He looks like a big strong guy. His set up is no problem for him.

Regards,

Jerryghr

Donny, that first setup you posted was quite a bit different than the second one, where he is using a pair of line array speakers, no monitor, and less stuff. The first setup had way too much stuff, thereby taking away from him as a performer. I've always felt that the performer should be the thing everyone is focused on and when they are completely surrounded by gear and wires running everywhere, that focus is lost in the maze of gear.

That said, it was much different when Frank Sinatra stood in front of the Nelson Riddle or Count Basie Orchestra. However, he was out in front of them by a distance of 20 to 30 feet, thus he was the center of attraction to the audience. How would it be if he were standing in the center of the orchestra in the middle row? I think this is the same scenario.

JMO,

Gary cool

Gary you have to adapt setups to the venue....
setting up with different gear is a good idea depending on the needs of the player...all in all I like what he's doing & it looks like he is working alot also.

Donny, I liked his performances. What's not to like?

The setup, however, would be a nightmare in any venue. One of the things I learned early on was how important it was to streamline your setup to provide the best possible sound using the least amount of gear. I was able to accomplish this with my rigs, making minor changes over the years that allowed the audience to focus their attention on me and my performance. When I was hauling around monster speakers, a monitor, music stand, seat, mic stand, etc..., the floor was covered with wires, the speakers towered over everything, the monitor was a PITA and the setup time was nearly 45 minutes. After streamlining the gear, going with the Bose PAS system, creating my custom console, etc..., the overall sound was much better, the audience could then focus more on my performance, the pay got better, and I soon had more jobs than I could possibly handle. With my current setup, I could play any venue up to 500 ppl. and didn't have to make any changes, modify anything. The same rig worked equally as well for living room parties, pool parties, and most outdoor venues. I no longer had wires running across the floor other than the power cord and a single line to the Bose PAS, and later Bose Compacts. Setup was a snap, no straining with big speakers, etc..., and I felt much more relaxed while performing. The audiences responded in kind.

Now, you must admit, that Genos really sounds great, especially in the hands of a talented performer, and that guy is a very talented entertainer.

All the best,

Gary cool
