I would hunt them down and eliminate them... grin

If I had to replace my G70, I would not know what to get..

The Korg line doesn't interest me.. frown

The only Yamaha that could interest me is the Genos, but I will not allow myself to be ripped off.. smile

That leaves Ketron.. maybe SD9, they would have to add more of the custom ram sounds...they were the only great sounds on the SD7. smirk

My only hope lies with the proposed 76 key Roland to be released.. It would have to have the features of the G70 (and BK9) and a large selection of Super Natural sounds..

I liked the E-A7, but it needed some improvements like 76 keys, touch screen, aftertouch, sequencer, and vocal harmonizer... bringing us back to a new Roland offering..

The Ketron SD40 would be considered.. I like my M-Audio Code 61, but would prefer 76 keys ( how about a Code 76) smile

Please don't steal my G70!!! cry

Just buy another used G70. They are death cheap..

Or you just could sit and blame Roland for never making a real follow up on the G70.

I, too, like the Code 61 and its keyboard action. I have asked for a 88 key version, and I've seen many others Code 61 owners asking for the same. I like the idea of paring any keyboard of your choice with an arranger module. Ketron seems to be just about the only current option and it happens to be my most favorite sound.

Fran, not arguing here. But from a pure features perspective, a PA4X-76 does everything the G70 does, plus it has a chord sequencer. Meanwhile Yamaha has been slow to adopt anything like this. So what is it about Korg that leaves you cold??

I'm curious about Ketron myself, but they have very limited distribution in the States; hard to give it serious consideration sight unseen (my $.02, YMMV.)

Yes, that's why I rely upon forums like this & Youtube for information. However, we have to take things with a grain of salt and read between the lines so to speak.

Once someone on a different forum was bragging about his theater organ sounds in the Roland Fantom XR module. I know people bought the Fantom rack module just to play the theater organ samples. The only problem? It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the samples to be loaded in the Fantom where as they load instantly in my V3 Sound Desktop arranger module. The major flaw he didn't mention could have influenced other musicians to jump in and buy both samples and the Roland Fantom XR module only to find out you have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for the samples to load up. Can you imaging having to do it in the middle of a gig? I gently pointed out in a question format; how long does it take for the samples to load up? Only then, he admitted.

I've seen fellow musicians overly defending or childishly bragging about their own music gear (Maybe self-vindication?). The end result is that we become an expensive influence on one another. That is not good as many of us musicians have some kind of hereditary tendency for GAS! LOL

Ted, I don't know if it leaves me "cold"...

Things I like about the G70 that the PA4x doesn't give me..
First the keys are better..
I like the D-beam.
I like the singer key feature..
I like the full feature playlist..
I like the make up tools..
I like the cover feature..
I like 6 realtime parts..
I like 6 fills, 4 intros, 4 endings..
I like the chord read out for all MIDI files..
I like the smart chord recognition of the vocalizer..
I like the FC7 option..
I prefer the more logical OS..
I like the routing options and effects assignments better..
I prefer many of the G70 sounds over the PA4x, like piano and EP's.

These are just a few off the top of my head..

I have never cared for the management of saving styles and songs on the Korg ..

Mike it was rumored a while back ( by usually reliable folks)..It also included the E-A7 that came about...The same folks said the BK9 would be discontinued... I would expect it to be by end of the year.... if true..

Well Fran was right about the BK9 rumor so I tend to belive his sources. BUT I hope the new Roland weights 60lbs., costs 6 K, and has nothing but Oriental Styles so I won't be tempted. I thought the G1000 was my forever board and then the BK9 came along so I'm done !!
Just spent 3 days going thru and editing all my Styles because of the different response of my new sound system. Next is editing all my SMFs. I just hate to start over again.

If you quote a machine specs that means you only have one eye looking at one machine - that's the Roland G70 to fill your needs. Every other machine/ keyboard will be a learning curve with new features that will frustrate you and educate you and life you higher ( in your creativity); it's up to you which way you want to go.

If you are lucky you might find a G70 in the same great condition and as well looked after as your keyboard; then you will be set. Hope you were able to have a backup of your play lists etc.

P.S. Hope they find the low life that took your baby.

What Roland should do..
-the style section of the G70 combined with ea7 including multipads
-the sounds of the integra 7
-the live sets of the Jupiter 80
-the the buildquallity, the keybed and sound controll of the rd2000 with aftertouch(also a 76 key version)
-expansion slots for ACB and DCB sounds
Nothing fancy.. just what they have been selling for the last decade..

I would happilly pay 5k
And i would never ever look back...

Its not like Roland doesn’t have the technollogy..
They just don’t think there is a market for a TOTL arranger/workstation

I had a chance at a G70 couple of years ago - $1800. Plenty to like about it. Passed on it though as I was unloading my Pa1xPro and didn't want another 45 pounder.

With all the worldwide popularity it once had I have also heard rumors of an
upcoming TOTL G80 arranger from Roland sometime in the future..

I'm still sore from lugging a G70 to a shipping depot to get rid of.

Ford put it out, named it after one of the family. It was a total flop. However, they are actually worth quite a bit now, if you can find one that didn't fall apart! smile

I know just how you feel.
If someone stole my Technics KN7000, I would feel exactly the same although midi no longer works on mine and I use modules a lot.
If the KN7000 was still being made, I would be willing to buy a new one in it's original form, even though a have a Genos which I am happy with.
Some boards just can't be replaced despite all the modern technology.
