Hi all,

i am piano student and want to buy a new stage piano.
Which model would you prefer:
- Yamaha P-80
- GEM Pro 2
- Roland FP-3

Important for me:
- excellent piano sound (of course)
- good physial model
- performance characteristics of an acoustic grand piano

Thx in advance

6 Months ago, I would have recommended the P80. Three months ago, the FP3. (I've owned both) But - in light of info I learned about 6 weeks ago - I strongly reccommend the Pro2. The piano sound, the action, the Graphic EQ, the easy split or layers, the collection of sounds, and most of all - the modeling charicteristics of the foot pedals - these all add up to make a more realistic acoustic tone. If portability is an issue - then I would change my tune, but based on sound alone ... I'd go with the Gem. I can get you all three models, but the Gem is the best deal at the moment. It's better, AND cheaper than the other two !

Well ......The PRO2 is certainly an option .
The pro2 has been on the market for a few years now . Since Yamaha is a piano manufacturer , they have an edge in designing the piano action .
The P80 is now selling for $799.99 . That's $200.00 less than 4 months ago . It's a good value .
Yamaha also has another model called the S08 coming out very soon .
You mentioned the FP3 by Roland . The piano sound and feel is always subjective . But for some reason ...the Fp3 just sounds better than the other Roland models .
FP3 is around $1199.99 maybe a little less .
Korg just released the SP200 for $799.99 .
The feel is not as heavey as the P80 and S08.
That's it for now ....
