As far as I can tell from the picture these are demo songs. Not styles.
Every KB has demo songs that can't be played with styles.
Somewhat misleading and can be frustrating.

There are various playlists by Korg for the PA1000. The list which contains these two, "JazzTrio" etc., is called "Demo Songs", not "Styles".
So these were most probably created from scratch with a sequencer, maybe with factory drum tracks from styles, maybe not. IMO You can't expect to find elements of demo songs in factory styles.

If that's the case I'm disappointed because I really like that jazz big band.... just has a nice bass line flow to it for a lot of songs...

Those are two great styles, but it's hard to tell what is 'style' vs what is 'live' ... would love to hear just the styles played with muted left hand chord changes ...

Yeah, but it's just a matter of time before they return - I've been on this forum for many, many years and know it will happen. History has a way of repeating itself. wink

All the best,

Gary ... I think you may be right, but in all honesty, I don't recall either of them saying they were going to Yamaha because it sounds better ...

Can't say for certain but I'm certainly not paying more than $4000. for a Genos when I feel the Korg PA4X is better suited for what I do.
I haven't yet needed a style I couldn't find for the Korg, and several times a year they give us a new set of factory styles.
I like the weight of the S970 and it is the best of the S series, but it isn't even fair to compare it to the totl models.

Donny, I looked on my Pa4x for those styles and can't find them anywhere. Perhaps they were renamed? Perhaps they are Premium styles for sale someplace?

Best bet is to contact someone from Korg...they are really wonderful and useful styles and wouldn't mind them myself, so let me know when you do find them.

I also looked in all my previous Pa4x files too and beyond, Musikant, Dopamine, etc,...I'll send out a few emails to some of my friends at KORG like Jürgen Sartorius and see what happens..

Demo songs, not style names... The demo songs are designed to show off the range of sounds with the most realistic arrangements possible, so styles are usually not employed for them.

If that's the case and they are SMF then they can be
easily CONVERTED to a STYLE within the KB to use?

Short segments in a repetitive way, yes, but a bass line of a walking bass, for example, will always be simpler in a style, as it has to fit to any type of following chord...

The Korg Song to Style converter BOT is great at this. It will even record the chord sequence for you!

Does the Pa-1000 have the Midi to Styles feature too?
Seems like a neat feature.

Guys you do know that the style converter dates back to the 90's.

Roland G1000 had the SMF to style converter as did the PA1x during the same period..

They always needed work as they do on todays keyboards..

It was always better to use the SMF … preferred over the style.. for reasons already mentioned by Crossover..

That may be, but many of my SMF's have come out fine on my Pa4X. I only use Tune 1000 files, and unless it is a real specialty song, I have the convenience of style playing.

Auto accompaniment has its limitations.... It cannot anticipate what the next chord you’re going to play is going to be. For simple style thst has a root and fifth type of baseline this is not a problem. But when you want to create musical baselines in a swing, jazz or salsa style , auto accompaniment will fall short.
