I try to improve my skills as much by listening to great artists as by practicing. I only practice after I steal licks from somebody. The Allman Brothers versions of T-bone Walker's "They Call It Stormy Monday", has to be the best ever. Every player is outstanding.

"Live At the Fillmore". I wore that album out and it influenced my playing greatly . One of the greatest bands ever. That cut and Lee Michaels version were the best ever done.

When I was a kid I saw Janis Joplin at the Filmore she came out with two bottles of Jack Daniels in her hands and blew the house down big time! ...OMG!

Don, I know you respect honesty so I'll be completely honest. First, let me say that I'm a big fan of the Allman Brothers but for this particular tune, I prefer the Bobby 'Blue' Bland version which I consider the definitive version. It was written by T-Bone Walker who probably got 1/10th of what Bobby Bland got and 1/100th of what The Allman Brothers got....but hey, that was the scene at the time (re: Fever - Little Willie John vs Peggy Lee). Bobby 'Blue' Bland changed the tune significantly from the original T-Bone Walker version but the Allman Brothers pretty much co-opted (although extended) the Bobby Bland version. Just personal preference though, it's all subjective. All the major versions (including Latimore's) were good, mainly because the tune itself is such a solid blues vessel.
Well, you asked .

I have the entire Bobby Blue Bland album that has this on it. I little different but excellent. I don't disagree!

Everybody makes a mistake now and then. I've been married three times. Cha-BOOM! You probably know my second ex-wife. If not, I'll send you her 800 number. Have credit card ready. Or you can get it off the wall in most truck stop rest rooms. When we divorced I moved to another state to be sure she didn't try to come back. I believe this has the makings of a great Blues song, or at least a Country song. Edit: P.S. You know what, I'm going to leave this post because it is sorta funny, but actually all my ex-wives were great and I get along with them still. Just in case they ever were to read this by accident. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Four old guys meet every morning at McDonald's for breakfast and coffee. One of them says "I'm sure having a hard time seeing these day, in fact nearly blind." Next guy says, "I know what you mean, and my hearing is shot all to pieces." Third guy says, "My hands shake so bad I can hardly stir my coffee." Fourth guys says, "I have no feeling in my feet these days." First guy says, "We should count our blessings, at least we an all still drive."
That's so-o-o good! I didn't get to see any of those folks when I was young. Too busy chasing girls... and I didn't have a car! You can guess the outcome! Oh well... ain't that life?
The set they are playing sure makes me miss old BB King.
