Does anyone use or have a Behringer B205D mini PA/monitor? Or the Mackie?
What do you use it for? What are your opinions. Any other $200 options?

What’s your opinion of the new Bose item? What about partnering it with a Compact? Other than two Compacts, does anyone partner a Compact with something else? Results? Opinions?

As for under $200, I use the 8 inch Alto powered speaker. I usually use two of them. They work great for any senior event.

I do sometimes pair up my Bose Compacts with an EV 12" ZLX. I put it on the "club" setting on tune the EQ pretty low. This fills out the low end that the Compacts lack. When i have the funds I'll get a real sub but this works out well for now...

I use this harbinger M350 which I got as a SDOD FOR $250
Works very good. Multiple ways to set up, great sound IMO, light and easy to haul and set up
No longer available at MF But can maybe get elsewhere

I have a ZLX12p but haven’t had need to pair it with the Compact.
I want to stay away from mid-size powered speakers, so the Alto is out.
I’ve heard similar reports about the S1 - it’s out of the picture.
The Harbinger is three pieces; I don’t need that. I’m looking for more a table or mic stand solution.

Thanks guys for your valuable input.

Cassp, I would go with a pair of Bose L1 Compacts - just makes good sense. Granted, it's a lot more than $200, but from my own, personal experience, when I used a pair of L1 Compacts, the sounds throughout the entire venues were just awesome.

Good luck on whatever you decide upon,

Gary cool

Once again, The LD Systems Maui 5's sound better than the Bose, have more controls, deeper bass and about HALF the price.
Thanks Bose for pioneering the technology, but you need to catch back up!

Cass the harbinger is 3 pieces but can be used so many ways. One of which is attaching both satellites together and then just sliding them onto the top of the sub
They all just slide and interlock with each other. Very easy
Satellites can be kept together. Then just slide em onto the sub at the gig

Guys, let me clarify. I’m not looking to beef up my rig. I’m simply looking for a HotSpot style mini PA to use around the house or on vacay, maybe more with my VR-09 than my s950. I saw a pair of the Behringers on stage at the DSO last week and wondered if there’s anything better. I don’t want the Roland CM30, I’ve had them and They only have 1/4” inputs.

Like Cassp, I need two stereo powered speakers for my studio. Is it possible to get a set up for (two stereo powered speakers) for $400? Need your opinion.

I have a Bose Compact; but I am looking at a pa4x keyboard with a powered speaker on either side. aaaaaah, nice!

If I do not play out I will sell the Bose – I have no need to reach to reach the other side of the room. (haha)

I recently purchased a great pair (stereo) blue tooth speakers.... They work great in the house and in the studio..

At $300 you may think they are pricey.. But when you consider they are part of a 61 key, 554 sounds Roland keyboard.... not so bad...

John C.,
I think a Nano 300 would suit your needs nicely. Two would be even better, but you can get true stereo with only one.
I find they are great for small to medium sized rooms, but they don't project like the Bose or Maui line array systems do.
I haven't decided whether to sell mine. I've had them a couple of years and used them maybe half a dozen times.
You might want to research them and let me know if they would be of interest. I'll make you a killer deal! smile If you don't like them you can send 'em back.

Donny, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. I’ll check that out.
Don M, I’ve had one Nano and didn’t like it as much as the Bose. Close, but no cigar.
Fran, no 802’s. As much as I miss my G70, I don’t see another Roland arranger in my future.
Bruno, if I were going to stereo I would look seriously at the Maui5, another Compact, or a pair of EV ZXL12p. Love the EV.

I have b205d's. Use 3 or 4 of them for monitors for full band. Great for individual monitors, not a small p.a. solution. Big EV fan, maybe zx1s or zxa1s would do for what you are indicating. I had them and loved them.

I am leaning heavily to the Behringer B205D. It’s less expensive than the very similar Mackie SRM150. The TC Solovoice FX150 does not get high grades for workmanship. The Galaxy and Nady mini powered alternatives don’t completely interest me unless I could steal one from somewhere. The larger EV, Podium, Behringer, and others are really not what I want or would make use of.

So, conversation over. Thank you very much for your input.

Since we have Bluetooth speakers – is there anything available that will give the keyboard the ability send a signal?

Plenty of them around, John, but the affordable ones have pretty limited range - @30ft. Here is one you could try without too much risk - only $29.

PS: just google Bluetooth transmitters.

I believe that the latency in Bluetooth will be too much to tolerate, when playing live music from a keyboard, through bluetooth transmitter, to bluetooth speakers. The newer APTx version of BlueTooth is supposed to be better, but not as many devices support it ...

5" powered studio monitors - there are TONS to choose from. We had several pairs of M-Audios at school, and they sounded fantastic in studio applications.
These will rock your room:
