Trying to get through this show...I had to take a break....
This show is my last hope... All the other award shows have very little talent..
There are the older talents here , like Reba... maybe a dozen.. The vast majority are bad vocals, poorly written songs and arrangements.. The girls are on the show for boobs and butt..
Even a star I thought would get better has diminished with poor performances/ songs.. Carrie Underwood just did a song and I don't know one word she sang... she has become a "pop singer" screamer..

I gave up on modern country music a long time ago. There is an occasional decent song but most are just awful. I fried fish, french fries, cheese sticks and hush puppies for my wife, two of my sons, fiance of one and the other one's grandson instead of watching tv. And I was strong enough to only eat a small amount! Now I have to go clean up the mess.
For weeks we saw the ads on TV ballyhooing this "event" and I could not bring myself to watch. It's so sad how these blundering producers have stolen country music and turned it into trash.
During the week, ASCAP produces an E-Zine and I'll scan the darn thing looking for something that might provide a glimmer of hope for American Music in general... and I think we have lost our minds. We don't need production and videos... we need good music to inspire us, break our hearts, tell us something funny or allow us to enjoy a toe-tapper with our morning coffee. Ain't happening for me! Sad. ----Dave Rice

I watched spots here and there and was hit with the fact that most of the songs, even those up for Awards, were terrible. And people in the audience were singing along like they were the best ever. I realluy never liked Country but now its really taken a nosedive.

I'd add Johnny Cash, Don Willams, Emmylou Harris, Tom T Hall, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, The Oak Ridge Boys..
Fantastic group of performers for sure. Probably my favorite of the above is Don Williams. There are some great live videos on YouTube from recent years all fans should check out including one from Ireland. He never lost his voice and the fans still loved his music.

Been watching Stapleton for a few years before he made it. He's a product of years of bar gigs. Played the same place John Michael Montgomery and Montgomery Gentry played in Lexington.
