Hey Tony, at $45k I'm wondering who or what I'd take a photo OF. Who buys these things?

The same people that smash their guitars after a performance (rich).

I’m going to think it’s sports/action photographers who earn their living maybe who would go the Hasselblad route? Yea and as Zuki wrote rich people.

For a pro/semipro or very serious hobbyist you could easily spend close to $9000 for a Canon body and the so called “Holy Trinity” of lenses. Those are lenses that cover from extremely wide angle to zoom level enough do portraits/sports/wildlife.

Canon 5D Mark IV body only $3299
Canon 16-35 mmf2.8 $1999
Canon 24-70 mm f2.8 $1749
Canon70-200 mm f2.8. $1949
Total cost. $8996

I don’t know anyone paying anywhere close to $5000 for a Genos which makes it seem like a better deal than the Canon gear. From visiting photography forums there are quite a number of not for pay photographers who spend what you see above and that doesn’t include lighting and tripod(s).

I’m sure Cap’n Russ could weigh in on this.

Professionals who are shooting pics for large commercial enterprises, such as auto manufacturers, high priced jewelry designers such as Rolex, TAG Heuer, etc., or doing photo shoots for clothing designers such as Lauren, etc. etc. etc. Even pros who shoot celebrity weddings ...
When we look at photos of high priced 'anything' in magazines, we usually don't stop to examine them, but if we did, we would no doubt find the image to be flawless ...

And then there are those who like zuki said, are just rich, and can afford to buy REALLY expensive toys ...

I had the pleasure of access to a Hasselblad camera when I was advertising manager for Murphy Oil, back in the late 60's, early 70's. That was my last exposure to them, but at that time it just didn't get any better.

Two things I have owned that make my Genos look very reasonable $$$...horses and cameras.

Medium format cameras work well for landscape as has been mentioned I believe.
