Here is a video of a young lady playing a classical accordion (that is how they spell it).
The accordion is different then the accordions we grew up with... the left hand configuration is different and it has 4 and a half octaves single note ..
Her technique is amazing...
I thought our accordion players here would enjoy the video.... maybe even Chas..

When improvise as much that the original melody is almost hidden, and everything sounds like BumbleBee played as fast as you can, it's not much for my taste. But, great and talented players, no dubt at all.

haha, I was playing classical accordion nearly 45 years ago!
They have been around for a long time. Mine was the Giullietti 140 bass model!
It was switchable from the "classical" (or more correctly named Freebass mode - which turned the chord buttons into single notes) to the "stradella" or usual accordion configuration. I was the Australian Champ for one year hahaha! Not that there was a lot of competition out here back in those days

Everyone is making light at the Accordion just as many pro Keyboard players laugh at arranger kbs and never take them seriously or be caught playing one on stage also,..... can't we just appreciate the artistry and respect all musical instruments for what they are...?

Accordion was my first instrument after the harmonica and before the organ. I have great respect for good players, but then, I like music other people might just laugh at. Who cares?

The accordion set the foundation for my life ... it got me into music, a profession I still enjoy today, it lead to my playing with the same band for 26 years, I met my wife at the accordion school, as a teenager I played in accordion orchestras in competitions and concerts in many different states - including one in Carnegie Hall, NY, ... It is a beautiful instrument capable of being played in a W-I-D-E variety of music genres ... It may not be for everyone, but then WHAT IS ???
Beautiful rendition of a Variation by Bach for Accordion & Guitar. The guitar & accordion so different from each other go together very well because of the differences. For non accordion players the Hohner Gola Freebass in the video would cost more than $40,000. I played a standard Gola at a music store while I was traveling overseas. It was $35,000, but it didn't sound as good as my Titano.

$35,000 - $40,000 for accordions, and we think arranger KBs are expensive ...
But when I think about it, in the early 1960's my SANO double tone chamber accordion cost $1,200 ... a LOT of money in those days ... but what a great sound ...
