Can you change the instrumentation sounds in the pad?

I meant to change the guitar voice within the PAD itself...lets say instead a Nylon make it a Jazz guitar, etc..

Donny ... thanks for the effort ... there's some stuff I can use in there, but not what I'm looking for - primarily a straight 4/4 strum on a Soft Jazz Guitar ...

Tony, maybe Roland's Guitar serenade will work... I edited the nylon guitar with Jazz guitar..

If Donny wants to record it this way... easy for him with on board recorder..

If not I will do it tomorrow.... If it is what you need I will convert to Korg for you..

YES I CAN, AND I JUST LEARNED HOW !!! bounce ... man, I know SO little about this board, I am embarrassed to say it redface ...
It was so simple ... so now I've got the SOUND I want, I just don't have that straight 4/4 rhythm I'm looking for ... will have to work on this some more, but if there's a KORG 4/4 strum of ANY kind out there, I would appreciate it ...

Did you try going into some of the country styles and cutting the tempo in half. This might give you the 4/4 beat you are looking for.

Tony
You have a style in movie and show called movie swing with a strumming guitar, nice 4/4 just use intro 2 or 3. Intro one is a little long depending on the song.
good luck

Hi Tony, is there a suitable strum in any of the styles?
Korg has a style to pad function.

I decided too try my hand at a bit of country, not really familiar with the styles,
Some of them were way too fast, I slowed them way down and found they worked ok. Some had strumming guitars in them.

Ie if the track suits , but the style doesn’t, it can be turned into a pad.

Sorry, just noticed country has already been mentioned, haha, hadn’t realised there was a second page.

Tony, if you find a suitable strum, let me know.

Is it just a simple strum on every beat?

I used to redo some of the guitar tracks on my psr conversions and and redo them as Korg guitar mode tracks. Been a while since I tried that.

Hi Tony, I am hopeless at picking up individual background instruments. Is it anything along the lines of Organ Foxtrot v1, acc4, first bar only, (the rest do their own thing.)

Or big band fox , v1, acc2, bar 1 only.

If the rhythm is correct, I should be able to edit a reasonable pad.

If not what you’re after, is there a single bar in any of the styles that would work?

Or record me a 2 to 4 bar midifile of the guitar track. Cmaj7 preferably.

Rikki ... Thank you so much for your efforts ...
I just got through struggling with a different 'situation' - in one style voice #3 would not play ... I had to dig down to find the answer to that (somehow the low velocity had been set to 117 - I dropped it down and all is fine) ...
Back to the original topic - I recorded an SMF of a strum from 'Serenade Band' that sounds pretty good, but I will listen to the styles you mentioned tomorrow, as it is 12:02AM here, and my KB is shut down and my eyes are about to follow ... sleep ... more later ...
PS: I just couldn't get the SMF to IMPORT to a PAD ... frown
Thanks again ...

Hi Tony, f you actually find a suitable style track , there is an actual copy style track to pad function. You don’t have to import as a midifile. I only mentioned midifile just in case you couldn’t find something suitable, to give me a rough idea of what you needed. Unfortunately just headed off to bed, off the top of my head , I can’t remember exactly what the function is called. It is really handy though, let’s you copy style tracks to create pads, and vice versa, allows you to copy a pad into a style provided you have a spare track of course.

Rikki ... hope you had a good night's sleep ... smile

I just cannot find any instructions on a 'Copy STYLE to PAD' function ... also, I have been trying to 'Record New PAD' but apparently I am missing something because it just is not working ...
In the JAZZ collection, 'SERENADE BAND' Acc 2 is pretty much what I am looking for ...

Ok Tony,
I should be able to do it for you, still have my Pa 3X at the moment.
I will try and find the instructions, maybe pa900 is lacking this function, though I wouldn’t think so.
If you are interested in knowing how to do them, I can take you thru it, provided your keyboard does have the function,

I got my keyboards set up in my new music room this morning, at long last they’re all in the same room, not all over the house.

Hi Tony,
whoever wrote the pa900 manual should be throttled . They lumped style and pad recording into one section, I can't tell if you have this function or not.

Page 151 { full manual } is what I'm referring to.
Style /Pad Edit, copy from style. I t appears to be referring to a style, in PA 3x, this function also exists for Pads, fingers crossed.

I did the following.

Hit Record button, choose New Pad.
Hit Menu Button Pad Edit
Choose Copy from Style Tab
Select the style, the variation, the correct style track,
Leave CV to All.
Press Execute , Exit, you should be back to the main pad record page.
Turn Pad Sync to Continued ( means no matter when you press pad whilst playing style, it will sync to style).
Press Menu, Choose Pad Track Control.
Pad Type Change from One Shot to Loop . ( One shot is for hits ie drums, horn stabs, etc
loops for stuff like strumming guitars, pianos etc stuff that repeats.

Track Type, choose acc, in this instance, don't choose gtr. even though its a guitar pad, it isn't a Guitar Mode track , its a midi track not a guitar mode track. you can tell if you go to event edit.

if the events suggest normal chord notes its a midi track.
if the notes are really weird and don't appear to be based on chords, its a gtr guitar mode track.

a lot of the guitar tracks have been updated to guitar mode, but not all.

Don't worry about the rest of the settings, they should be reasonably right. Don't even worry about tempo, it adjusts to the style.

when done, drop down menu write pad and choose an empty user slot.

Hopefully this is do able if not, has to be done via import/export which is a bit more complex.

As for the "How To ..." instructions, a home remodeling project is going to take priority for a while, so I will have to wait to try to create a PAD myself ...
