Sorry Fran, check the site at https://www.roland.com/global/products/ba-330/specifications/

410 milliamperes is only 4.1-watts. That's it! Nothing complicated about OHM's law when it comes to calculating wattage.

Gary we had the same discussion 8 years ago.... I thought you were wrong then... and I still think you are wrong..

I have a great idea.... go play thru one.. smile

I also raved about the Podium Pro 802's and they sold a ton of them because I endorsed them..

And the Podium 1205a is the most powerful unit at 28 pounds with bass that kills everything in PA's..

What the Podiums lacked is the same as the Bose and QSC K series....
Warmth... they are all too harsh and brittle..

BA330 just sounds better..

Check into more detail about how you rated the BA330....

109 db... is a fact...I scoped it.. wink

Gary I see your error... 410ma is .41 amps.. AC voltage is 110 volts x .41 amps... yields 45 watts... not 4.1 watts..

DB has absolutely nothing to do with power ratings, Fran. And, I did try the BA330 on your recommendation here at Music Land, Bel Air, MD using my PSR-S950. It sounded weak and distorted at best.

dB Power ratio Amplitude ratio
100 10000000000 100000
90 1000000000 31623
80 100000000 10000
70 10000000 3162
60 1000000 1000
50 100000 316 .2
40 10000 100
30 1000 31 .62
20 100 10
10 10 3 .162
6 3 .981 ≈ 4 1 .995 ≈ 2
3 1 .995 ≈ 2 1 .413 ≈ √2
1 1 .259 1 .122
0 1 1
−1 0 .794 0 .891
−3 0 .501 ≈ 1⁄2 0 .708 ≈ √1⁄2
−6 0 .251 ≈ 1⁄4 0 .501 ≈ 1⁄2
−10 0 .1 0 .3162
−20 0 .01 0 .1
−30 0 .001 0 .03162
−40 0 .0001 0 .01
−50 0 .00001 0 .003162
−60 0 .000001 0 .001
−70 0 .0000001 0 .0003162
−80 0 .00000001 0 .0001
−90 0 .000000001 0 .00003162
−100 0 .0000000001 0 .00001
An example scale showing power ratios x, amplitude ratios √x, and dB equivalents 10 log10 x.

Hope this clears things up for you.

I had the BA330 for a while, but never warmed up to it. I practically gave it away to my horn man. Now, we’re using it to fatten the sound of our backing tracks. We place it behind us, patched into the sound system. It provides a nice bump and ambience to the over sound. Sort of like having a sub. No feedback issues. But, I hate to carry that thing.

It's only 30 lbs. kind of wish I kept mine for a utility and practice room amp. For the price I would still choose it over the new Bose or Korg.

30 lbs. is heavy to me, tho’ I can still handle it in my 70’s. Especially up 3 flights of stairs, with no elevator. I just traded 24 lb. powered speakers to a smaller model of 17 lbs. I’d like everything to be under 20 lbs., except for the arranger, which I can deal with OK. I guess lighter means trade-offs in sound quality to some extent. But, sometimes compromises must be struck.

Here’s the manual for the Bose S1 Pro...

https://assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose...00_viewable.pdf

I just looked through it real quick... no mention of dB rating or wattage. But it comes with the cover. It does have a link out... only 1/4” but it might be balanced!

Time to sell my Roland CM-30 and my TC-Helicon Monitors. Already sold the JBL EON ONE.

Just talked to Yamaha, and they could not provide me with power in watts, however, the sales rep gave me the other specs. The S1 has a 103DB RMS gain with a 109DB gain peak power, slightly less than the L1 Compact which is 112DB RMS and 12DB peak power.

Hope this helps,

Gary cool

I found the db rating: 103db, maximum 109db at 1 meter.
This is not a full-scale PA system. Basses stop at 70 Hz.
