I have Panasonic and Sandisk SD cards.
I used them in the kn7000 and in the cardreader and had no problem.
So you can be sure that Sandisk works.

Brian, are you sure that the Kodak card is not a multimedia card? I believe they look exactly the same as a SD card and will fit the slot but do not meet the SD card spec and they do not have a data protect switch.

I've only seen a max of 64 MB ever advertised for multimedia, so thought this at first too, but assumed that since this Kodak card was 128 it must be sd? multimedia cards are the same size, but slightly thinner, and probably will work for technics and midi but probably not for audio. I would guess they may not have this extra contact though?

Interestingly SanDisk also specifically mention digital audio for their sd cards, and Alain's works fine, so maybe the lexar looks more promising?

Yes Alec you were correct, the Kodak card
was Multimedia and in my ignorance I asumed
it was ok for digital music, we live and learn. I will try the other makes recomended
but because of the plastic packaging its
impossible to to see the contacts on the
back of the cards. Many thanks to all who
responded.
Brian.

"I've only seen a max of 64 MB ever advertised for multimedia"

Lexar also has a 128Meg Multimedia Card. And, many adds say they will work for SD functions. That is true for some, but not all SD functions. They are priced about the same as SD so there is no advantage in buying them for the KN7000. I guess the moral is, don't try to use Multimedia as a substitute for SD.

Continuing the sad story. Today I bought
a 32mg lexar card and was told it should
work fine as it says its ok for mp3 players.
But when I get home I see it only has 6
contacts and the results are the same.
On the Jukebox screen with the cd button
pressed the settings button will not recognise the card also the cd button when pressed.
I have now given up and ordered a Panasonic
card from my keyboard shop and hope to get
it some time next month.
Thanks for all your comments.
Brian.

the 128 multimedia must be quite recent then. Multimedia does not have the encryption technology that audio has on sd, and it would seem reasonable to assume it will not have a great lifetime ahead as a format, because sd has far larger capacities available and coming on line. Unless it remains as a cheaper sibling of sd.
I thought about getting some just for technics or midi format if the prices were much less than sd, but in the long run losing the opportunity for digital audio is probably not worth it.

the lexar story is peculiar because here http://www.memorysuppliers.com/san12secdigs.html they specifically talk of use for digital audio players and crytographic security for copyrighted data, which you would assume would make it ok for the card reader??
multimedia specs only mention uses for cameras, camcorders, phones and pdas, not digital music players.

Many thanks Bill I have mailed my order
for a 64mg Sandisc card. Looking at the illustration it has the right amount of
contacts and a write protection switch.
Isnt it nice to have such good friends even
If we never meet.
All the best,
Brian.

That's good news Brian.

"the lexar story is peculiar"

Alec, what Brian described above is another Multimedia card, this time a 32 Meg from Lexar instead of Kodak. I have no doubt that the Lexar SD cards will work fine.
