The screen on the S970 is at best fair. And because I am trying to improve all my equipment; I am working on using a monitor for viewing the S970 screen.
I bought a HP 22” monitor and mounted it above the keyboard. Working with setting up the keyboard is much easier now.
I have spent many years using my laptop for my music. Styles, lyrics, play lists, and lots of other things related to music. I am now using an IPad for all my music. It is a fair substitute when compared to what is in my laptop.

The good news is that I can connect the monitor to my laptop and see everything I have worked on. I now have all my songs; lyrics and notes on a 22’ screen. NICE easy to read. The laptop can be placed away from the keyboard.

Sharing, John C.

I's guess the 22 inch size of the monitor makes it more desirable than a tilt up display. The 970 screen is very readable at home.

Both the S-950 and S-970 are very readable in most conditions. The only time they would not be is when there is a florescent light directly overhead, which can be the case in some jobs where the player failed to pay attention to the lighting situation. I even found the S-950 quite readable outdoors when I was in the shade, which was a huge improvement over the older Tyros series and early PSR models. Yamaha listened and changed it's displays to super twist HD technology, which was requested by players several years ago.

Good luck,

Gary cool

Gary try sitting very low,....it's a real strain at that level plus the glare makes it horrible,....just add a tilt display problem fixed..
Korg has addressed this with ease, .....why they took it off genos is another mystery after tyros had it,...people have already told em the genos display glare is a problem, its simple physics??

Donny, as you very well know, I never sat very low - I wanted the audience to see more of my beautiful body and smiling face. Unfortunately, those 2 attributes have went to Hell in a handbasket. smile Gettin old ain't fer wimps and sissies. smile

Please keep in mind that the size of the monitor is not important when you are a home player. A 22” monitor is beautiful – I do not need to use my glasses. I saw the set up on you tube and fell in love.

When I finish setting up I will post some pictures.

PS, I do have problems in my neck --- It is probably from bending my head down when tuning pianos.

Hey guys...this is a problem for me and others that are SHORT.
I don't want to mount the kbd to read the display.
Yes...Korg fixed it....I do think the Genos display is OK from the standpoint of seeing the display...but glare could still be an issue outdoors or in with bright lighting. I'm sure Yamaha saved $4.00 buy leaving it off Genos...you wander where these decisions come from sometimes....

I've been looking at the Samsung 18.4" tablet. It has a curved attached stand on the back that was a deal breaker, until I saw the youtube video on how to remove it in minutes...then it can sit on a music rest.

If you just want a 24-inch LED monitor to be placed on the music stand of PSR-S970, LG 24MP88HV-S 24-Inch IPS Monitor with ultra slim bezel works very well:

LG 24MP88HV-S 24-Inch IPS Monitor scales the 800x480 output of S970 very well - when I bought it, it was $200:

With the monitor stand removed (very easily), it sits on the music stand of the S970 very steadily without any need for velcro or ties - back view of the monitor:

Thanks,
