Haven’t played much lately...hip and all...

Played at our local Vets home(been there many times)....maybe 60 - 70 there. AD came up to tell me he thought the sound was very good. He usually tells me if the sound is only OK.

Thing is, I had folks back to my right well beyond 180 degrees of my speaker. I asked a woman, who was well to my right and back, if the sound was good. She said she was very happy with the sound and I noticed her singing along throughout the gig.

Apparently the 4X and JBL Eon One compliment each other well.

That said, I was pretty impressed with the performance of my 4X as well today.

I have three single speakers....an SSV.3, a DXR10 and a JBL Eon One. Right now I’m using my SSV.3 as a home monitor for my PA4X.

I had convinced myself to sell one of these speakers, to get myself down to two systems. One system I could use in stereo, two speakers, and the other for small gigs...one speaker.

I had thoughts of getting a second Yamaha DXR10...go in stereo...and with 1,100 watts a side....and 3 channels.

But there hasn’t been anything my JBL Eon One hasn’t been able to handle....and apparently from my experience today, is able to handle much more than a 180 degree spread with more than 60 folks in a good sized room.

So, I’m back to square one. I’m not sure I’ll do anything different.

That is other than to buy a Korg PA4X 76 Key....but that’s another story. I’m discovering the advantages(not weight) of gigging with 76 Keys.

I am in a quandary myself about getting two LD Maui 5 speakers.

Bose Compact(1) is fine, but monaural. SSV3 is stereo-like and great, but sometimes lacking bass without the sub, especially with my S970. To achieve stereo with bass, I have to add a Bose or go to the Maui 5's with much more connectivity and EQ for little more money. Of coarse, I could do nothing and take the SSV3 and sub, but I have no way of knowing if there is enough improvement with the Maui 5. I am sure Frank has the best price, but no return option.

Why not try adding the Bose woofer (only) to your SpaceStation, for added punch? You already own it. Just take out the tweeters, and run it as a sub!

I have a Euro 12" and my old Logitech Z2100 8" sub I use sometimes. The Bose doesn't have a sub out connection to the SSV3 sub in. I would like to try it, but don't know how I could hook it up. Then there is the frequency cutoff factor that I set at 50 hz. I am probably better off with your suggestion nonetheless. Thanks

While looking around at different sites yesterday I noticed the Eon One has dropped $100 of list price. Is JBL planning an upgraded new model ? Would be nice if they corrected the inputs and added !/4" or XLR jacks for output.
They did a siniliar correction with the Eons before and came out with the 515xt's which I have.

There is a JBL EON ONE PRO available... sells for $1499 and can run on a battery. Smaller and lighter... updated mixer!

different animal. 8" woofer and lighter and I guess less sound. At that price I bet it doesn't sell well, very limited audience for it. If your a busker who needs something battery powered you can't afford it.
I'm still impressed by the Eon One and wonder if there will be an update.

A few times a year I sit in for a friend of mine who has a steady gig on an upscale Italian restaurant ... he has the BOSE L1 permanently set up there along with his mixer, x stand, etc., so when I play there I only have to bring my KB and mic ... I've always thought the BOSE sounded very good ...
About two months ago I filled in for him and he needed the BOSE for another gig, so I used my Podium 10's ... He called me this week to ask if I could fill in a date in February and he said that the STAFF told him they thought I had a better sound with MY PA system ... now, I know the staff doesn't know one PA from another, but I found it very interesting that they would make that comment ...

Much of this, Tony, will depend upon which presets he used with the system. It took me at least a month of fiddling around before I was able to find presets that sounded the way I wanted them to sound.

All the best,
