Yamaha just informed me of the pricing and probable availability in limited quantity for the first Genos keyboards to arrive for sale in stores. There is one model, 76 keys and the retail price will be exactly the same as the Tyros 5 76 key. Retail is $6799.00 and MAP is $5499.99. A limited amount is due in the US in a few weeks.
I am excited that with all the new technology, touch screen, huge amount of memory plus so much more that Yamaha was able to maintain the same price.

Yamaha is still using the price structure for the CLAVANOVA line with Genos. Huge retail number… High MAP price with a huge profit margin to make the CLAVINOVA dealers (Who will be the ones stocking Genos) happy.

If this really is a new concept.... Open the pricing up in order to sell more units to get it in the hands of more people.

In 1989, my parents got my first car for me… A 1988 Ford Festiva in charcoal... I'm pretty sure our deal was $5500 for the car. Later that year, I got my first "real" keyboard... the Korg M1. I got that for $1600. I guess it's keeping up with inflation 28 years later.

U.S. Inflation Rate, 1989-2017 ($1,600)

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the dollar experienced an average inflation rate of 2.46% per year. Prices in 2017 are 97.4% higher than prices in 1989.

In other words, $1,600 in the year 1989 is equivalent to $3,158.53 in 2017, a difference of $1,558.53 over 28 years.

My first car a 1963 Ford Galaxie in 1969 used cost me $600. I can't even purchase a set of good tires for my mini van for $600.

Well, no matter how good it is, & I'm sure a lot of early adopters will buy it. It will be just too high a price for me. This pricing is way out of hand, even the Montage is way less in price.

But, Donny, it will pay for itself in no time - you have said that dozens of times over the years. wink

I know there's inflation but to think in 2004 I bought a Clavinova CVP 307 for $4500. In '89 I purchased a Samick 5 foot 10 inch grand piano for $6000, not only did I get 2 outstanding instruments but they are pieces of furniture. Disclaimer: I sold the grand piano about 8 years ago and I did work for a music dealer in the 70s who I remained friends with, I got a deep discount.

Well, it looks like it will all depend on how deep the dealer discounts will be.

Yamaha Japan gets their cut...
Shipping from China? Or made in Japan 🇯🇵?!?
Yamaha USA gets their cut...
Shipping from California...
Dealer gets their cut...
High MAP price to give small dealers a chance on the internet...

How many units will really sell for $5499?!?

Montage 7... $3999 list... $3499 MAP... giving a free CS valued at $299

$3999 makes more sense to me!! They would sell more units that way!!!

Prices in europe are quite a bit higher then the T5...
Also dealers seem to pay less for the t5 then they did for the t4 when the t5 was released.
And what they offered for my pa4x was a joke..

€4700 and they offered €1700 for the pa4x...(10 months old)

For that kind of money the soundquallity has to blow troughthe rood, being even better then the live recorded orchestra
Because the specs we have seen, are really really dissapointed..

So... the moment the Genos is "Officially" introduced, will they drop the MAP price of the Tyros 5-61 and 76?!?
