I want to add some real drawbars to my rig. I've had bad luck with midi modules, but just bought a Voce 5, hoping that will work. Now I'm thinking maybe Yamaha YC Reface might be a better add. Any thoughts?

Reface sounds quite good but the physical drawbars are way to small..

I think for a good drawbar solution, you either are bound to a 61 key version (sk1 or nord elektro, or some other). Or a drawbar module like the Keyb EXp.

Many of the cheaper modules seem to be low end.

Cass this is where an "ALL IN ONE" Arranger like the KORG Pa4x would shine for all what your trying to do,...and you would be carrying way less gear to the gig, but if you want to go the other route the Yamaha Reface can be hooked up as shown in the video to make some very interesting combinations for you too.... wink

The better "All IN ONE" Arranger choice in your situation would probably be better served with the Tyros 5 Organ World. The combination of physical draw-bar sliders and corresponding buttons makes a very useful combination, as pressing both corresponding buttons at the same time reset that draw-bar to the original preset position.

The buttons on your s950 might work the same way for draw-bars and other functions, but the physical sliders are way easier on-the-fly. Upgrading from a Yamaha s950 to a Tyros 5 (or maybe the upcoming Yamaha Genos) would make more sense from a quality and compatibility perspective.

I played Hammond organs and Leslies for years before severely downsizing to a single Tyros 5 and powered speakers for live performances and gigging. The newer upgraded DSPs on the Tyros 5 and Leslie simulators Organ World are really good.

Also add the Real Reverb DSP into the Reverb DSP block in the Mixing Console and all your Organ registrations makes for a high quality organ experience, creating a better ambiance from an organ playing in a room environment with (low reverb time/initial delay/high damp settings) to a cathedral ambiance with an awesome 6 second or more reverb time with corresponding initial delay and high damp settings.

Also the Tyros 5 quality keybed is to die for, especially organ or the more aggressive jazz organ type playing. At home, a Tyros 5 twinset with midi pedals is the best combo I every had for playing organ, never mind including the full arranger capability.

I bought a Ferrofish a couple months ago and sent it back. Personally, I didn't care for the included Leslie sim and getting around the OS was not live friendly. FOR ME. I'm awaiting the Voce 5 and hope I can use it with either my s950 or PX-360. If not, the seller is permitting me a trial period. I'm really trying not to add a second keyboard, but maybe a Reface YC or even a Roland VR-09 might be needed. Damn, I miss my G-70; to this day I haven't found a keyboard that meets my need like it did.

So what are your needs?

i have come to the conclusion that currently it requires 2 keyboards to cover all my needs. There is the Kronos for Piano, Synths, high end orchestral sounds, arpeggiators,88 keybed, master controll functions but also the GX-3 organ engine.. and then there is the PA4x for everything else.

If you liked the G70 so much, it might also be for the fact that it was really really high end. The only thing giving the feeling you had on the G70 back then will probably be the Korg PA4x right now. altough it doesnt have the dedicated organ engine, it comes close. Espescially if you add a midi drawbar module to it for operating the drawbars of the PA4x organ sounds. Because the PA4x does have a drawbar mode.

So why did you love the G70 so much?
