Hello,

After reading this topic I checked my KN7 and found it was the earlier version so i went to the German site and using altavista converted it to English and downloaded the upgrade. It all went pretty straight forward though I have not seen any difference in the keyboard, must be working away in the background.
Isn't this site the best.

Some of the other sites that had it, including Australia seem to be now closed down.

Having downloaded the discs from this German website, how do you load them on the KN7k.
I checked the version on my keyboad which is
1.4 if I was able to load version 1.6,would this make much difference?
In loading do you have to hold down one or two buttons, nothing showed on the screen when I pressed the load button in the floppy disk menu.

The German site shows 4 diskette contents:
KN-7000 DISK 1: kn7-16_a.exe (1.11MB)
KN-7000 DISK 2: kn7-16_b.exe (926 KB)
KN-7000 DISK 3: kn7-14_3.exe (1.4MB)
KN-7000 DISK 1: kn7-14_4.exe (1.2MB)

When I check the version of my KN7 OS it shows version 1.5. Does this mean that I can upgrade to 1.6 by using only the first two diskettes????? I can read the German text reasonably, but cannot understand from it whether I need all 4 disks or just the two kn7-16 disks.

When I used the disks I just followed the instructions as they came up. You could try just disks 3 and 4 and after initializing your keyboard check if the version shows 1.6, if not start again using all four disks.
It was straight forward if you follow the instructions.

just switch on with the first disk of the pair in the drive while holding down panel memories 1 to 4. For the rest just follow the instructions in the screen - be SURE to do a checksum on ALL disk BEFORE attempting the upgrade proper. If there is no pressing reason to do the upgrade (since most people can see little or no difference afterwards) think carefully about proceeding since in the unlikely event it fails for whatever reason it will mean a trip back to repair station or factory which now will entail even more hassle than normal.
