I posted this on the PSR Tutorial site last week and since then there have more than 100 downloads. Thought it would be some interest here as well.

Until about 20 years ago, for some strange reason, I was unable to memorize the lyrics for most of the songs I performed. Then one day, it was as if someone threw a switch and I have no trouble remember the words, at least for most of the more than 3000 songs I performed. For those I had a problem with, I typed them up in MS Word for Windows and saved them as .doc files. Some I knew all the chord changes, and some I didn't, so some of the files have the chords written over the appropriate words where the change takes place.

If you wish to obtain these files, I uploaded the folder to Box Net so you can have access to them as well. Here's the link: https://app.box.com/s/8bwjhtworydlzehmynry06tut0wsfta9

Now, if you wish to see them on your arranger keyboard screen, you will have to convert them from .doc format to .txt, which is easily accomplished using an old DOS command in the PC prompt screen, or just resave them in MS Word as .txt files.

Enjoy,

Gary cool

Thanks a lot Gary. I'm afraid that I am stuck in the same time period as you before your epiphany.

I knew you would like them, and apparently, there are lots of others that will as well. There has been more than 100 downloads in the past week.

All the best,

alot of these lyrics need to be reworked to be in sync with your custom arrangements,...I rarely would use a stock version when and if I use a lyric chart for some songs..

Hi Gary:

Tell me what you took... or if you actually had an epiphany... in order to remember all those lyrics. I've written and recorded more than 1000 original songs and must press hard to remember the lyrics of even my most recent song. LOL! I attribute it to Senior Moments... or worse! Doesn't seem to affect my chess playing, though.

You 'da man!

Regards, ----Dave Rice

Dave, my wife, Carol, says for some strange reason, I've become an idiot savant during my later years. Hell, just yesterday I suddenly remembered my parent's telephone number from when I was a 5 year old kid in Baltimore. It was Broadway 24060. And, a few years ago, I had to fill out some paperwork for the VA and they needed my US Navy Service Number, which was provided to me at age 17. I didn't have to look it up - it just popped out of my head, automatically. Maybe it's the Green Coconut Margarettas. wink

All the best,

Gary cool

Gary ... I don't know if remembering those numbers is all that unusual ... I still remember my parents first phone number and my US Army ID number ... But I may not remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, or where I put the car keys an hour ago ... rolleyes ...

Our number was 370J (J indicated a party line). Later got a private line, it was 270. Mother's number at the bank was 9! Post Office was 7. My aunt was the chief operator. You picked up the phone and she said "number please" and you would tell her the number. Sometimes when I called the bank, she would say something like "Donny, your mom is over at the drug store, call her later!"

I try to never use written lyrics from a laptop, tablet, phone, postcard...whatever.

That's because, if you are doing a tune, you need to put your stamp on it. If you're scrambling for the chords and words, you have little time to own the material.

Another thing: I have a stack of cards in my case; some 20 years old. they each have changes and lyrics for a song I intended to learn, but, because I have the "crutch" available, I never really learned the tune.

Interpretation is everything.

Gary I have decided that at 85 I have the right to be crazy, silly, happy, or even a little sad if I wish.

Seniors years can be very special enjoyable years if you do not allow other’s opinions in. Who we are is what we have already done and I am proud of most of what I have done. From where I am standing you done over and beyond in your life.

OK, there I go again preaching, sorry. Preaching comes easy when you have lived long and have experienced .
