Same as workstation releases, Motif had a lifespan of 6 years, Kronos is also almost 6 years, MOXF is 4 years old, FA06 also 4 years old and nothing on the horizon that promises an update to these instruments...

The only thing rapidly adavncing and improving are Vsts, and ipad apps.

When you look at tyros and you see that most people only update every other model, so from 3 to 5 or from 2 to 4... then its obvious why they are slowing down the new models... i do hope however that they also realise that this only works if they make the updates between instruments considerably bigger..

Casio releases the LK series ... very cheap.. but nothing more then a toy..

Even compared to the Roland GO series, i dont consider these instruments, they are definatley toys

I heard a performance on the RD 2000 at the Roland booth and it sounded awesome. My wife Kerry took a video of a demonstration that I should be able to provide in a couple of days.

Here is a Roland video from NAMM 2017

The big thing about the Roland, is the keybed PHa50, same as the LX17... also Roland supports a new technollogy thats meant to replace midi one day... instead of 128 steps in vellocity it has 128x128 steps, and not just vellocity but it goes for every parameter...16 bits instead of 8 bits

This technollogy was allready inside the RD800, but now its also communicating to external devices (only over USB).. its supposed to give a much more fluent playing experience..
