Saturday night, I played a high energy cocktail hour before a big dance party, and they pointed to an area that had a very nice Yamaha grand piano. If it was a quiet thing, I might have been tempted to use the acoustic, but there were 2 problems I had with that ...
1) the piano was on a dolly, so it sat too high for my comfort (if I used the bench)
2) My vocal processor is built in the kb, and all my cables are pre-measured to fit neat, and tidy on the stand I carry, so ... I set up my (X) stand sitting just over the piano keys, and stood behind it. My Bose was to the side, and it filled a long room of 40-50 noisy guests just wonderfully.

Done that a few times in Baltimore's Little Italy. Posted a photo on this site many years ago.

I never understood why they never raised the benches when they attach pianos to a 4-6" high dolly.

It's because the people who MOVE the piano are not the people who PLAY the piano ... piano
PS: I had a set up like that when I had a steady gig in a piano lounge ...

When one is not a 'piano player', one uses what one can ... wink ...

You look great Gary, but I will never be able to buddy up to the aerobics instructor/Madonna/Garth Brooks mic. Just can't do it.

Dave, some guys can and some guys can't. I understand, completely. Back then, I had to wear a tux all the time while performing at Delenote's Restaurant. It summer when that photo was shot, so I had to wear the white tux jacket and black slacks. I still have most of those performance clothes in my music closet - who knows, some may fit you. wink

All the best,

Gary cool

Gary,
I played a room that looks JUST like that setup in King of Prussa PA - it was an Italian place called Maggiano's.
I'm on my health kick again, but still have at least 40-50 lbs before I'm your size! lol I also doubt that the sleeves would fit ... I'm a 36-37.
smile
(oh yeah .... what are "slacks" - isn't that a HOAGIE (not sub) shop?)
