Hi
since adjusting the eq in my pa4x, I noticed some of the drums in my user styles are playing more loudly.

What I would have normally done is go into style edit , and adjust the velocity of the offending drums in the track. Pretty time consuming.

Something I've never bothered to explore before ( and just in case others haven't either is a function called Drum Edit.

Choose Style
Hi light Drum
Menu
Track Controls
Drum Edit

Just press play
Now you can adjust the volume of groups of drum types
Bass, Snares, Toms , hi hats cymbals etc

So if the snare drum in your style is too loud , turn down the volume.
Lot of other adjustments too.
( EQ too. Now I can really hear the difference it makes)
When you finish , just write to current style settings.

Possibly come in handy with some of those old korg legacy styles too.

Hi Deane,
hope it will be as helpful to you as it will be to me.

When I think back at how many countless hours I wasted on drum tracks in my conversions , basically trying to balance them in the mix.
The bass drum playing too loud for the snare.
Or brush swishes so loud , you couldn't hear any other drums.
So into the style editor and drop or increase the velocity of the offending drum instrument.
Finish it all,
Next day, sounds better , but still not right. So redo it again.

The solution in front of me the whole time in the form of Drum Editor function.
Good part is that it only affects individual styles.

Some of the other editing functions may come in handy too.
When I changed and turned on EQ ( as per post on korg forums)
I noticed some of the drums took on a slightly harsh sound, so I may have to adjust a bit ,
and/or adjust the sounds in the drum editor .

Good part is , you can listen to the style whilst making adjustments.

Funny how some of these functions are right in front of you, and you don't see them.

Thanks Stephen
Hopefully might help some others too .
Can't beleive it took me till now to try this function.
A lot of us probably do use the odd non factory style and it's usually the drums that let one down. Poorly balanced because they were recorded for a different keyboard.

Sounds for the accomp. parts can be changed easy enough provided the instruments are the same throughout the style ie vari 1 , acc 1 piano as long as var3 acc1 isn't all of a sudden a flute, Gives one the opportunity to try different versions of the instrument for the style without having to go into edit mode and physically change them.
Just choose any replacement instruments, adjust volumes , and write to current style settings.

Going thru my user styles at the moment and making sure where possible my instruments are uniform throughout the style.
Taking a bit of time, but should be worth it in the end.
Pity again, I didn't think to do that when I was converting them in the first place.

Live and learn. Haha
