It's curious, SD 40 already listed at online stores, and the Ketron website still has lots of white spaces...

Other than the few demos from Musikmesse, there is no demo to be found of SD9 and SD40.

No manuals online either. Good luck, you need a lot of confidence to be among the first buyers...

demos for the SD40 are not required. Its simply a module version of the SD7.

The SD9 is not quite ready and cannot be ordered yet. Demos will be available once its ready for release.

What's that nonsense at Thomann then? They are usually quite reliable with availability dates:

I was in direct contact with Marcello Colo, he was less clear about it and said it rather had the soundset of the MidjPro, which is not 100% that of the SD7.

I guess it would be a good idea to have a few more demos, at least that's probably what prospective buyers think, and also an online manual. I don't know how many buyers like doing a blind bargain.

I 'may' need to make an apology for this statement. It looks as though the SD40 might have an upgraded sound engine to both SD7 and MidJay Pro.

The SD40 features 668 GM sounds across 5 banks as opposed to 543 across 4 banks on the SD7 and MidJay Pro. However the SD40 appears to lack the SD7 Ram Sounds. It also does not include some of the 'player' and 'dj' features found on the SD7. I suppose that is where the choice between Midjay Pro and SD40 become more clearer.

With that in mind I will upload SD40 demos to the website in the next 24 hours.

Probably same sound engine, just some more sounds...

To bad they are removing some of the player and the Dj features, as this is what sets the SD7 apart from other keyboards..

But then, i am allways wanting as many features inisde a box as i can...

looking forward to your demos..

The Player is still there - but you dont have access to dual panel controls and sliders. Just a single rotary control.

Although the DJ section is not there (at least I have not seen it) you have Jukebox. This shows you your song library, adding X-fade allows you to play one track, then whilst its playing select another and the instrument cross fades for you (instead of manually doing it with sliders). This works realy well so I dont realy think its a backward step for an arranger module.

The plus size is the module is so small - the smallest arranger Ketron have ever made.

Although the SD40 presale is over - we are still guaranteeing against price drops. So if we are able to lower the price further during the month, buyers will get a refund of the difference. It already happened as we dropped the price from £1549 to £1459 inline with other internet sellers.

If there was a contest about where in the world to pay most for any new (not second hand) Ketron products,
Norway would be in Guiness Book of Records every year so far.
Be prepared .... .... laugh

I was at Dera muziek in Heerlen this morning..
Very friendly owner, and very helpfull..

He showed me the SD40, got it connected to an attelier Organ and hat a sound i must say... Incerdible ease of use, which again asured me that a large touchscreen with a small interface makes many many buttons redundant.. and so, in the end that allowed Ketron to make a very small and light unit about 1/3rd of the size of a Audya4...

It was remarkably easy to use, when compared to Audya, despite having so few functions.. Sadly we couldnt find any virtuall drawbars on the screen... would have added even more..

In the end after an hour or so i came to the conclusion that this was the best arranger module ever created.. light (kess then 2 kg) small but loaded with high quallity sounds and styles and easy to operate because of the very good touchscreen OS..

add this to any stagepiano, organ, synth/workstation and you have a fullfledged high quallity arranger build on top of that...

So i am still wayting to get my hands on the SD9 Pro... but if they made a module version like an SD90 Pro of it... i would probably go for the module version and add it to the Kronos...

(i just checked out the sound and style capabillities, not the midifile playback, now wondering if there can be markers set)

So far i undertand that ketron is mostly very popular in Italy itselves.. They are having a hard time selling their products because of their bad service record over the years..

My interest got peeked again, because there currently is a trustworthy dealer overhere in Holland (Dera) that does have a splendid service record. As well as the fact that AJ has been all around on these forums helping people from everywhere...

I just yesterday compared the SD40 to the style quallity of my Tyros5 and a pa4x... and the difference in feel almost gave me the shivers, strange enough when happy at home playing with the Tyros5 i still feel happy with the quallity of the styles.. its good... but the arrangements of the ketron are extraordinary

Wait untill you hear the SD9PRO,and yes the Tyros is good, but the Ketron gives you the live feeling what an musician will hear,Tyros is better when you play smf,but i want play live and than the Ketron is top,the arrangements are the best, the audiodrums sounds as a real live drummer with all his breaks. And the basline is superb. And offcourse the live audioguitars.

Sadly I sold it too early to get ready for the Audya that did not show up when promissed, and when it did, the one item price was the same as for 1 Tyros and 1 Korg top of the range together.
Rest of the story already told several times ..... frown

SD9 sounds great at videodemos, no doubt, but so do PA4 (and T4/5 in it's "CD'ish" way)

Can somebody verifies if the Voicetron setting glitch (MJPro) had been fixed on the SD40? (Voicetron Setting won't memorized arranger variations)
Can the registration memorized the intro now?

I dont think anyone has an sd40 at home yet...

My guess is that if its been repaired for MidJpro and SD7 that it will not be an issue for the SD40...

I had the latest OS installed on the MJPro and those issues were not addressed.
I hope the new SD40 does not have these issues.
Thanks Bachus

Prices SD9 in:

Italy:http://www.mercatinomusicale.com/ sd9 €3190,00

Germany:https://www.thomann.de/nl/ketron_sd_9 €3998,00

Benelux:http://muziekhuisdera.nl/ketron-sd9 €3799,00

I think Italy is my choice when the prices are correct.

Ketron has allways been much cheaper in Italy....
And much more popular on top of that...

We could use some more indepth info about the SD9 ....
The prospectus does not tell it all...
