When my wife and I play at assisted living places, a number of the folks like to dance...which is great.

However, at one place in particular, folks like to get do close to my wife and I that they bump into the equipment which concerns me from a safety standpoint.

The AD and I were visiting after the gig last night trying to figure out how to set up in such a way that they didn't get so close.

Suggestions?

At one time I used to carry two theater posts and a length of plastic chain to keep dancers at a safe distance. When a couple nearly tripped on the post base one day, I stopped using them.

the tape works great and very light and easy to carry with you....
I use two chairs at the facility on each side taped off like a crime scene only when needed for a wild NH dance audience lol.. cool2

... it may be necessary but I bet it does WONDERS for the look of your set-up ... stop

I think it is interesting that I have seldom had the problem when playing solo with the KB, but when singing with the female vocalist it has happened a few times that people have come very close to the equipment ... obviously, she is more attractive than I am ... wink

Tony....I'm sure this is not the answer you're looking for but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

This is the reason I always use my USS keyboard stand whenever possible. It's built like a steel cage and I don't think you could knock that over with a battering ram.

I'll be the first to admit, it doesn't look glamorous but it sure takes the pressure off you of having to monitor the nearby dancers while trying to entertain at the same time.

I've been kicking around the idea of a Quik Lok SL930 keyboard stand but all too often when people come up to talk to you they put their hand on the keyboard and lean. Use to be I had to chase people away from putting drinks on my B3. LOL!
Had one lady walking next to me trip and the first thing she did was reach her hand out and grab my keyboard. She didn't go down and the keyboard stayed on the stand but isn't it weird what we have to worry about on some gigs?

Whoa! But look how far the butt end of that boom arm is sticking out into 'traffic'. There's plenty of space at the side of his keyboard he could have positioned it. The guy's not too bright setting up like that.
