So I see there have been some new synths introduced at this years NAMM show. The Oberheim OB-6 by Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim. The MatrixBrute from Arturia, and the Waldorf Eurorack Keyboard controller. Along with KORG's Minilouge. The last one I am not impressed with. I would have loved to seen a new version of the Polysix or Monopoly.

The other synths really look coo, and I am more impressed with. Of course this is just my opinion.

What do you all think?

Paul

I got to play the OB6 at NAMM. Great vintage sound and has new features added by Dave Smith that it inherited from the Prophet 6. The Prophet 12 was also at Dave Smiths booth.

That's cool Nigel!

I was surprised to see that Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim team up to produce a new, OB synth.

It is awesome that these two synth designers got together to bring back classic synths.

Yes it is very cool. I thought it was great when Yamaha gave the Sequential name back to Dave Smith.

Although, I don't understand how Yamaha wound up with the name in the first place? I don't even recall a Yamaha Product the used the Sequential name? Of course I was still pretty young when this all happened.

It is also nice that Tom Oberheim was able to release new SEM Modules and a New Two Voice synth, and from what I have seen, the Two Voice was more of the Type of synth that he wanted to make.

Big corporations just like to buy stuff like that in case it is useful to them. Over the years they realize it isn't and let it go. Back in 2000 I owned a domain soundbooth.com which was back when napster was big. I was approached by an agent in New York who wanted to buy it off me. I ended up selling it to them for $15,000. When I transferred it to them I saw that the buyer was really Disney. If I had known that I would have asked $50,000. A few years later they just let it lapse. Just bought it in case it was useful at the time. Hey but at least I got my $15,000 wink
