Darn that DonM (he was the 'dealer' when I got hooked on SDOTD (Stupid deal of the day - emphasis on 'Stupid' smile ). Got sucked in (by the price) to buying this - DigiTech Vocalist Live FX Vocal Effects Processor - something I need like a hole in the head since I don't even sing (as anyone who's ever heard me can attest smile ). $99.00; 199.00 all over the 'net. I mean, who can turn down a 50% discount with free shipping, right? Anyone know anything about it? Am I going to sound like Lou Rawls (me sounding like Michael Buble' would be weird). I already have about four vocal processor/harmonizers and I sound like crap on all of them.......but I know this one is going to be different smile.

You could allways have your wife sing, seems to work for some... Or in the worst case find a nice girlfriend that can sing...

It's an addiction. I just ordered two SansAmp products....a leslie simulator and a new effects processor. Now, last month, I was converting to all acoustic guitars with "floater pickups and absolutely clean amplifiers, like JazzKat and Hendrickson.

These effects will let me make these boutique amps sound like tube Fenders, which sell for 1/2 the cost of the new ones.

Glad I didn't see the this one...I never owned a harmonizer, even though I sing (reluctantly) on every job and on lots of commercials.

Gotta go, maybe there is still one of these units left....

Now I'm hooked on www.meh.com
One deal a day, and when it's gone, it's gone. Ordered headphones last night. That will make roughly a dozen sets, just in case.

Go check it at midnight if you're awake. A lot of times the stuff is sold out very quickly.

I have bought a bunch of stuff from SDOTD that I don't really need but couldn't pass up the deal. I bought a TC Electronics VoiceLive 2 processor and I can't sing a note lol. But if I could it would help. Anyone interested in it? The last thing I bought was a Blackstar HT5 Metal 5 watt guitar amp but I do have fun with that.

Ok, a quicky update on my new toy. One word, FANTASTIC! (for the price - $99.00 at MF's SDOTD). Super clean, great audio tracking for harmonies (using built-in mic), easy to program, well built and tons of features at this price level. Even at the regular price, it's probably a bargin. Just a heads-up in case you need something like this at a bargin price. Does everything it says and more.

Tony, my voice cracks if I try to hold a note more than a few seconds. If I suck on a lozenge, maybe I can sing for 10 seconds before it cracks. I've tried lemon tea and everything else; no joy. My intent all along was to get someone else to sing the phrases and I'd run them through the processor after the fact. However, I can see that it would make a great real-time stage unit. DBX compression and Lexicon reverb. Really sounds great.

Chas, try Jim Beam Honey Burbon, on the rocks, really smoooooooooth, and coats those vocal chords so well. After a couple glasses full, those vocals will improve dramatically. wink

All the best,

Gary cool

Well, as I said, I got mine at half price so I consider it a SUPER bargain. The compression and especially the reverb (Lexicon) are top notch. You'll need to customize it to your voice (Gold channel) and then explore the literally thousands of effect combinations. No need to wear out your voice either; with the SoundCheck feature, you can just record a vocal phrase and use it as a real-time test bed for all the effects/features. There are dozens of chord combinations for really good two or three part harmony (with audio or guitar chord tracking).

Since you're a singer, you'll probably enjoy this thing even more than I do and YOUR results should be very satisfying. The most important thing - ignore the 'Quick Start' and download the manual. Read throughly before trying it out. It's essential to fine tune it. Lastly, it's very ergonomic and intuitive, with dedicated buttons for on-the=fly changes and easy to follow menus for the more permanent stuff.

Enjoy.
