Yea, even though the demographics say that jazz audiences are better off and better educated, one [problem is....THEY LISTEN TOO MUCH, and don't drink nearly as much as other bar patrons.

Ha! That's funny Russ.....but true. Jazz club owners get around that with watered down drinks and overpriced lousy food....and, oh yes, underpaid musicians.

True story: Back in the sixties I used to hang out at the All Nighter Club in Soho in London's west end. The owner would come on stage and say, ''My bar staff tell me things are slow at the bar. So come on folks, we're raising prices in ten minutes.'' Cue the stampede.

Haven't been there in many years and I doubt it's still there. Don't know if they'd get away with a stunt like that now.
