MARIE LAVEAU - Bobby Bare Written by Shel Silverstein and Baxtor Taylor
[The most famous of the voodoo queens that ever existed is Marie Laveau, down in Louisiana
There's a lot of weird, ungodly tales about Marie,
She's supposed to have a lot of magic potions, spells and curses....]

[A] Down in Louisiana, where the black trees grow lives a voodoo lady named Marie Laveau
Got a [D] black cat's tooth and a Mojo bone and [A] anyone who wouldn't leave her alone
She'd go [E] (growl) another man done [A] gone.

She lives in a swamp in a hollow log with a one-eyed snake and a three-legged dog
She's got a bent, bony body and stringy hair. If she ever seen y'all messin' 'round there
She'd go (growl) another man done gone.

And [D] then one night when the moon was black, [A] into the swamp come handsome Jack
A [B] no good man like you all know [E] (TALK) He was lookin' around for Marie Laveau.

He said Marie Laveau, you lovely witch. Gimme a little charm that'll make me rich
Gimme a million dollars and I tell you what I'll do. This very night, I'm gonna marry you
Then it’ll be (growl) another man done gone.

So Marie done some magic, and she shook a little sand.
Made a million dollars and she put it in his hand
Then she giggled and she wiggled, and she said Hey, Hey.
I'm gettin' ready for my weddin' day.

But old handsome Jack he said goodbye Marie. You're too damned ugly for a rich man like me
Then Marie started mumblin', her fangs started gnashin'
Her body started tremblin', and her eyes started flashin'
And she went (growl) another man done gone.

So if you ever get down where the black trees grow.
And meet a voodoo lady named Marie Laveau
If she ever asks you to make her your wife,
Man, you better stay with her for the rest of your life
Or it'll be (growl) another man done gone.

I've really got to give Yamaha a great deal of respect. Those styles they put in the 950 are fabulous. Listening to the Mustang Sally one made me want to get up and dance.

Korg makes a good machine, but their styles are not terribly creative or well thought out.

Anyone having success changing the Yamaha styles over to Korg?

Don........I thought you were posting Mustang Sally. Did you do any recordings of it? There's a song you never get tired of hearing.

Mark here I am doing Mustang Sally/Midnite Hour last December on PA900. My niece, Megan Sheehan, was working with me, but only sang harmony on this one.

Gary and the three Don's, sounds like fine group, by jove this place has livened up big style.

Don R, this is a real change for you, great. grin

Gary: you really gave the song some welly, brilliant your growl sure scared the crap out of me cry

Don: What can I say, up to your normal terrific standard, really enjoyed both songs but I think Gary's growl just topped your howl. shocked

Keep it up Guy's, really made my day wave

Just had a thought. . . I think I'll find a proper scream, record it and assign to a pad.

Don (Korg80), just some (I hope) constructive criticism here. The style is well suited for this song (Mustang Sally) and your voice and vocal style also work well for this tune. HOWEVER (you knew this was coming), since this is such a well-known song, any deviation from the chord changes, actually the timing or placement of the chord changes, is going to be very noticeable (and in your version, it is). Listen to the original, DonM's version, or the video posted by DNJ (who didn't know THAT was coming smile smile ), and I'm sure you'll see what I mean. I suggest that you listen closely to WHERE the chord changes come, make the correction, and re-record it.

Just passing out unconditional kudos, in my opinion, does not help a performer. I hope you take this in the spirit in which it is offered.
