With the many great suggestions offered by knowledgable forum members, i decided to revisit this song using the Style suggested by Gary (Yamaha's "Bubblegum Pop"). Here is a quick live performance take recorded right off the PSR S750. Let me know what you think.

To me, what style one uses is all a matter of what the player is trying to do ... I had no problem with the first style except that it did get a little monotonous and needed a couple of fills or a gradual build to the end ...

This one obviously is more lively, but now I thought the fills 'inside' the verses were a little too much ...

The style itself does fit the song pretty well ...

Love the voice, Don ...

Thanks Tony! I agree about the fills. The drummer was just so cool I couldn't help myself. The first style I used only had one useable variation. #2, 3and 4 were just to funky to use in the arrangement. Thanks for listening.

Man, I thought I was going to end up with a free PA900. Henni posted all the Korg styles on PSR Tutorial. Alas, even with his hard work with conversion to Yamaha, there were too many glitches especially in the styles I really wanted. From my work with midi I know that drum kits are often incompatible and when your favourite style has a whistle or an exotic latin percussion instrument that sounds like a dog barking labouring throughout the style I lose interest quickly. Too bad this didn't work because I still would love to have a 900.

Don

Ha Don,

If only Onacimus would put his hands on those they would turn out incredible. I'm not that deep into style modifications & yes, Mega Enhancer can only do so much. But it mostly depends on the initial raw conversion from one brand to another. Of all, Roland styles convert best. Yamaha worst. Korg somewhere in the middle.

In any case, I tried my friend... Half a Merc is better than no Merc at all! blush

Cheers,

Henni

Henni,

I sincerely appreciate your efforts my friend. I would have a PA 900 to compliment my Yamaha if I could afford it. I have written a number of songs with a PA 800 I had rented for a month and looked forward to having those styles available on my Yamaha. Of course as things go the styles for my songs were the ones that didn't convert so well. Thanks for trying. If I knew what I was doing, I might have been able to fix them but I'm too busy composing and recording my own Christian music.

God Bless,
Don

Don, I just knew you would like that style for that song - to me it fit perfectly.

All the best,
