I have a very close friend from Poland that I have performed for a few of his recent birthdays. Unfortunately, I have never been able to master any songs in Polish other than So Lat, the birthday song. I found the language very difficult to sing phonetically, though I've tried numerous times.

His wife recently went to his nephew's wedding in Poland, and he sent me this trailer of the video taken during the event - WOW!

Cheers,

Yes, live band is a must with Slavic weddings.

I'm so old that the last Polish wedding I played for was for Alexander Graham Polowski.
He was the first telephone Pole.

I've played a lot of big $$$ weddings up in North Jersey but that Wedding blows them away. Great video.

That is one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen. The professionalism is top-rate. I wonder what the story behind it is. I mean, are these people wealthy, did they do this just for themselves or is there commerciality behind it or just what. Is this a trend in Europe, I've never seen anything like it. Awesome.

This short movies, up to 5-10 minutes, that will present the wedding in it's main aspect seems to become something increasingly popular in Europe. In Romania too. And usually they are very attractively made.

Here's what a friend of mine produced, for a couple in Italy it seems.

All it takes is $$$$$ ...
I would have loved to hear the actual music at the Polish wedding ...
Also, I remember when a band wore tuxedos to play a wedding, not jeans and a tee shirt ... guitar ... dancers

Tony, a tux in Poland is very, very expensive and only a few bands can afford them. And, from what my friend told me, the pay scale for a full band there is quite low.

I too would have loved to heard all the music they performed.

Gary ... I am sure it is a 'generational' thing more than money ... if that were the case, all things considered, the bride and groom could have rented tuxes for them ... but I am sure they were happy with the sound AND the look ... would have loved to hear the song they were dancing to ...
From what I understand that bride/groom choreography thing is big in the states also ... bluesbros
