Ian's on the right track, I think. Is it that Fame 2000, the low end Deebach? a bit of a depracating remark if I may say so regards John Oops, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Just thought that the Fame 2000 was regarded as a low end Deebach, going by the recent thread on it. Probably got the wrong end of the stick, again . The Fame 2000 is a medelli .... Only difference, the name printed on it.. The same hardware is used by Deebach, but with high quallity samples and effects.. Its allways hard to guess these instruments, as most current instruments sound really well.. I think i recognise a Yamaha style, but its not played on a Yamaha keyboard.. So i would go with a ketron for yhe sound, as there is noarticulations in the trumpet, yet it still sounds very good.. My best bet is Varranger2 with an SD1000 attached... Or a Yamaha file transfered to an SD5

After listening to the Wav. file, the horns/brass at the beginning sound relatively bland...no Super-articulation or DNC that I can hear, so I don't think it's a mid/high Yamaha (S750/950/Tyros) or Korg (PA-900/3x).
It sounds no better than a mid-range instrument (or even entry level) to my ears, irrespective of the manufacturer, although, as Bachus says above, most current instruments (regardless of level) sound pretty darn good.

After listening to the Wav. file, the horns/brass at the beginning sound relatively bland... They don't sound good at the beginning because it is a soft solo trumpet played like a brass section and in a range a bit too low for the typical trumpet range. I stick to my guess that it is a Ketron "Swing Trumpet", as it sounds like in my SD 1000 version of Swingin' Safari. The lack of any inflections (SA or DNC) on the trumpet and/or Brass, might eliminate any mid to high end Korg or Yamaha, so it is either a Ketron (an instrument I have yet to play or hear "live") or a Yamaha/Korg that predates SA/DNC. Or, the previously mentioned DEEBACH. It sounds pretty good...just not high end, at least to my ears. Ian

So here it goes: What you hear is basically a combination of Korg ( PA800) and Ketron ( X1) and a whiff of Ketron (SD2 module): ARRANGER SECTION: Drums and Bass: Ketron X1 ( 1999 made !!) acc. Tracks : Korg PA800 RIGHT HAND IMPROVISATION: First : Soft Trumpet ( SD2) over a stringpad (PA800) Second: Trumpet+strings : Ketron X1 I selected two Bigband styles on both the ketron and the korg and synchronised via clock PA800. The SD2 trumpet was also triggered via the Korg keyboard. It is not the kind of thing one would want to do on stage but once you have the patience and knowhow it may yield some amazing results. I still think that the Ketron drums ( and these go back to 1999 !!!) are absolute terrific and personally I have no great longing for audio drums. Obviously the Korg samples ( see acc. Tracks) are generally better than the Ketrons, but imho to compare the result with a cheap Casio or medelli is way off. Sure, better things are available these days, and at a price, but I am still quite satifisfied with the overall performance of the KORG PA800. And as to Ketron, I am looking forward to Don and Deane’s experiences with the SD7. Alas, here in Holland the SD7 is priced way over the top (2900 euro streetprice) and then service and reliability do remain an issue with Ketron, particularly with new products. That having said and in all honesty I must admit that if I had the means I would probably get one myself ! Thanks to all of you for your comments Regards John
