We did a live outdoor "gig" today using only the S950. We are well pleased with the results & so was the audience.

Nice to use two arrangers. Soon I'll carry both of them to all our upcoming venues.

Henni, I absolutely love using the S-950, both for indoor and outdoor jobs - as you said, "the S-950 rocks." As for taking two keyboards to a job, I used to do that when I was much younger, like you. wink Those days are gone forever.

S950 is very good. It's about fourth on my list of best current arrangers though, if you only count MOL models. FOR MY NEEDS. Don't get mad. smile

Don't worry Don, your name isn't 'chas'. In fact, I'm thinking of signing all my future posts 'DonM'. Hope you don't mind smile smile smile.

For the record, The S950 does sound like a nice board 'though I only have first-hand knowledge of the T2, but I've always liked the Korgs better, mostly because of the more creative and adventurous Jazz, Fusion, and New Age styles. I also felt that the drums were better and the styles more dynamic (less limited, compressed, etc.). But, as you pointed out, it's all subjective and in the end, comes down to NEEDS. And although it seems to be largely ignored, I'll say it again...JMO, JMO, JMO.

Hi Henni, I have the Audya 5 and also the Yamaha 950 too. It's an awesome combination. This weekend I'll take both out for some cinco de mayo celebration. Ketron has AWSOME tropical Latin styles and the Yamaha 950 Mexican expansion pack styles are the BEST!

So, what are the first three on the list of best current arrangers?

Tyros 5
Audya
PA3X

(Personally i would put Varranger on the 4th place)

As far as middle of the line arrangers, my choices would be Korg PA900, Roland BK9, and most likely the new Ketron SD7, although it's not available yet.
I agree with Bachus on the TOTL models.

Compared to the rest of you, my experience is very limited with different arrangers.

Had I not gotten the Tyros 4, I probably would have been content with the S950.....but once we started using the Tyros....well the rest is history and the S950 is now owned by another.

Tyros 5 is now calling but given what a great arranger Tyros 4 is, I can still resist the call.
