Walt, at one time the product did contain fish oil, which was purchased from the Menhaden Processing plant in Reedville, VA. WD 40 and CRC both purchased the rendered oil from the plant, but this was back in the early 1970s. I have since discovered the fish oil was replaced with a less expensive synthetic oil. When I called Bose about the same problem of my extensions sticking together they said not to use WD40 or CRC because they get sticky after a while and make it even more difficult to remove the connections. Additionally, there are products in WD40 and CRC that improve conductivity, which would cause a problem if it came in contact with the extenders electrical connections. The folks at Bose said to use Silicon ONLY. Gary
