My Bose L1 Compact extensions are a little hard to take apart.
Somebody mentioned some safe way to lubricate them. Forgot how...

Wd40?

I use a silicon spray. Do not spray the contacts, just the plastic part that slides together. Variations in temperature and humidity can cause them to be very tight.

Mine is in my spare gear bag at work or I could tell you exactly. Haven't needed it in a long time.

DO NOT use WD-40 - it's made of fish oil and will eventually become gummy and sticky. Silicone oil only and only on the parts that slide together as Don said.

Garry is right, WD40 is not a lubricant at all... It has other uses tough... As a lubricant silicone oil will do nicely..

I was VP Sales for a large packaging company for the east and west coast and filled millions of cans of WD40.

There is no fish oil in their product.

Walt, at one time the product did contain fish oil, which was purchased from the Menhaden Processing plant in Reedville, VA. WD 40 and CRC both purchased the rendered oil from the plant, but this was back in the early 1970s. I have since discovered the fish oil was replaced with a less expensive synthetic oil.

When I called Bose about the same problem of my extensions sticking together they said not to use WD40 or CRC because they get sticky after a while and make it even more difficult to remove the connections. Additionally, there are products in WD40 and CRC that improve conductivity, which would cause a problem if it came in contact with the extenders electrical connections. The folks at Bose said to use Silicon ONLY.
