Hi All,
Firstly I want to state that this is all my own opinion and from personal discovery. Alot of my personal music tastes and Arranger keyboard experience are also contributing factors into this post about this keyboard.
I currently own a Korg PA3X and a Motif XS and a Technics KN6500. I have previously owned a Tyros 2/ Tyros 4, PSR S950, PSR S910 and various other synths which have all been moved on.
I have spent over a week with the Audya now and I must say I have some mixed thoughts. It is the first time I have ever owned a Ketron product. I purchased the keyboard because it was as a very good price - a bargain which I didn't want to pass up, and these keyboards are VERY rare in Australia.
Mine is the Audya 5 without the Ajamsonic upgrade. I was originally planning on upgrading to Ajamsonic, but now after what I can see and hear - I have decided to sell it before I spend more money on it.
The styles sound amazing - the best I have heard on any keyboard. its incredible - true live music. I also like how all the styles are NOT song specific and more generic.
But I think that's as far as it goes for me... most of the right hand sounds are not very dynamic in comparison to the other top end workstations out there. The voices just don't have as many different samples across the 127 velocity range. The technics KN6500 also lacks dynamics in comparison to current workstations but this is acceptable on a keyboard that's now almost 15 years old...
for a keyboard like the Ketron Audya at the price it sells for - this is very disappointing!
I also like to play alot of modern dance, house, trance music. the Audya has nothing in this department. All of the styles in the Dance category sound like 80s music and 90s disco. there is nothing that comes close to a proper modern "doof doof" ibiza style, euro dance, euro house, euro trance etc...might not mean much for most folks here but for me its a big thing.
Navigating around the screen is also very frustrating as the buttons next to the screen are not lined up next to the correct icon on the screen...
Also - I noticed someone else state this in the forum and I found it to be true. when you are playing a style, each time you change a chord - unless you change the chord at the EXACT time, the style will skip, voicing will cut out and the chord transition will not be smooth. again - very disappointing the keyboard is not as refined as it should be - If i spent the RRP or whatever the brand new street price is (around 5k AUD) I would be furious...
I am hoping that some updates can fix these issues, AJ has promised a few more updates which sounds great, but I think I have mine moved on before they are released, as I stated I think the Ketron is not the keyboard for me...
If anyone is interested I have it for sale for AUD $2,850.00 Happy to negotiate including shipping to anywhere. I have the original box and all accessories - everything in absolute mint condition.
All the best Nick

My Audya 76 with the AJAMsonic upgrade has none of these problems, and it is last year's upgrade. Wheras I didn't have any real problems with the original, AJ's upgrade made all the difference. Now, with his SSD and further enhancements, it is a sure winner.
Of coarse, the lack of styles in the Hip Hop category would be disappointing to Nick, which is understandable.
