Always edit your keyboard using the sound system that will be used to perform..

Studio montors are used to hear detail and most natural "flat" sound.....Example mixing for a CD (users would still need to eq the media for their taste)...

Performers...you will be very unhappy with results if you set up your keyboard using studio monitors or headphones..

Ditto.....Ditto..... & More DITTO!!!!!

BTW: The best usually is the most costly..
But mid priced are more than enough..
The idea of studio monitors...they allow you to listen long periods of time without hearing fatigue...while at the same time hearing every detail of sound..This does not translate to the best stage sound at all..

I only play at home in my music room, some would call it studio... And thats where studio monitors fit best... In my opinion...

Needless to say, i totally agree with you Fran

I get that and totally agree on that subject Fran, but I edit a lot, and all the time I tweak something. My sound system is pretty big, well at least around here and I can't really do much at home with it.But everything I do on SH80 pretty much sounds really good on my system too. They sound nice for the money if you want that really sound an not make up.

Just curious. Are these monitors to be used for mixing down recordings?

With the studio that I had, I had the best luck actually mixing down with headphones...relatively good ones.

That said, I have about four sounds systems now...couldn't be called monitors though...JBL 515XT, Bose Compacts, Tyros 4 system came with the keyboard and now the HK Nano 300.

My favorite, so far for just playing at home for a full sound is the Nano 300. And the nice thing is, like Fran said, then I can tweak for performances.

Also, the Bose Compacts make for a nice home sound too but pricey for two.

Yamaha has the HS5 and HS7 studio monitors which I use in my store with Yamaha Arranger keyboards. They are both marvelous speakers.
