Hello Everyone,

Firstly, I want to thank Nigel very much for giving me a membership on the forum. I've been a huge fan for many, many years and I thought that membership was closed here until I read the invite message recently! (I didn't see the wood for the trees).

I'm very pleased to meet you all, some of you will know me already. I'll try to help out here as and when I am able to do so. I've had a KN7000 for quite a few years, having been a fan of Technics Keyboards since the K100 (I saved up for a long time to get it, along with help from my parents, when in my teens).

As regards the KN7000 I still consider myself to be a learner even though I've played it professionally. There is a lot to learn about it.

I've recently launched my two websites to support KN7000 owners. Once again I'm grateful to Nigel for supporting me by linking to them as well as to many of you who have joined and participated. I can hardly believe the amount of interest that there is in the sites and it just goes to show how popular these keyboards still are!

I have wanted to launch the sites for a very long time because so much info is disappearing from the Internet about the keyboards. Synthzone has been incredibly helpful for me over the years as has Willum's site. The information from Gunnar Jonny's site has largely disappeared and that is a sad loss.

Kenneth Gundersen's site has also been a great resource and I'm sure we are all grateful to him for maintaining that. Now this is starting to become a list and I fear for missing someone out! My quick hello is turning into a ramble.

My point is that I decided that the time was right to launch and try to provide a place for owners of the keyboard, to support new owners and to develop some ideas about the KN7000. It is my hobby, combining my interests in website design and music. Though combining it with a full time job is something of an effort I'm finding it very rewarding to help literally hundreds of people worldwide... I'm becoming a bit of an expert at using Google Translate!

I'm sure that Nigel will agree that maintaining websites is extremely time-consuming (and absorbing) so it doesn't give me a lot for time to actually play music at the moment unfortunately, so forgive me if I'm not as active here as I would like for a while. Hopefully by 2015 I'll have the bulk of the hard work done and I can get a bit more time tickling the ivories!

So... hello all and thanks very much.

Happy playing,
Mike

Good to see you here, Mike.

It's a lot of work to maintain a site like yours. Mine finally became more than I could handle. So Gunnar kindly offered to host it when my age got in the way. My compliments for your work.

Thank you both, I really appreciate the welcome.

Has anyone heard from Fred Mellink lately? I have quite a few members who say they can't register KN-SDExplorer and I haven't been able to get hold of Fred by email either. I hope he's ok.
