I have this mixer. One of the great things about it is that it mounts on a mic stand so easily!

I have one. Great mixer. I have literally not turned it off for several years. It is in my office powering computer and practice station.

But Gary, if you don't want one, this one would be a good one not to have! grin

I had the 10 and 12 versions in church - loved them... $125 is a fair price for this very good mixer...

Graham, I actually thought about purchasing one for the Synthzone Jam here, but after one day's use it would never be used again, and I would be stuck with it. I already have more gear than the average performer and some will soon go on Ebay.

That s why I stay with a powered mixer and seperate speakers. EMX 512SC w/Carvin speakers. I like to have my controls close to me. With powered speakers you need extra AC lines and usually wind up using an outboard mixer anyway with a 9 volt wallwart. ( HATE those things )

For DJs who do the mixing on their consoles powered speakers ae OK but for me I'm still old school with the powered mixer near me.

Nice mixer though and Yamaha quality can't be beat.

Both AC Line & Speaker Cables are "wire wrapped together" for convenience, ( Gary taught me that) wink ....who wants to carry a big heavy boxy powered mixer around + the speakers?. I only use a mixer on big 4hr jobs, more players, singers etc, or DJ'ing. For small gigs just plug the powered speakers into the KB & your good to go...simple. cool2

Agree on the combined cables. Saw a DJ who had them custom made. I think there are some cables like this available commercially.
With my BK9 I could get away without a mixer because it has a mic and aux. input so the keyboard becomes a simple mixer. Not much tone control however.
My Yamaha 512, even in its road case isn't too bad to move and my Carvin XP800L is so small it fits in a gym bag with the speaker cables so its not that much of a pain and I like the flexibility.
Since you posted about the Yamaha mixer I thought you used one. Would be nice to drop a piece ( powered mixer ) but other stuff has to go first.

I'm still not interested - bring it to the Jam July 20. Maybe I trade you even up for one of my Digitech VRs.

Cheers,

Question for you, Donny. Doesn't wrapping AC and speaker cables together cause hum?

I've always kept mine separate as much as possible, even to the extent of making sure that when they do cross each other, say, on the floor, I make sure they cross at right angles to each other. Maybe this is real old school thinking, but old habits die hard.

Not if you use shielded cables and have a good ground system.
