"All The Things You Are", which is probably my absolute most favorite song ...

NOTE: No 'Transpose' buttons or Capos were used during this recording ... although the 'Block Ensemble' was wink ...

Not being a jazz musician, I try to keep to the KISS theory ... chords straight out of 'The Real Book' ...
Once again, the file was too big too imbed in the post ...

Nice job Tony. I will download it and put it on Synth Zone so when it expires at box.com it will still be on this thread.

Tony, don't ya just get in a grove when you playing the correct chords live and not playing behind sequenced chords. It makes ya feel like a musician eh. No wonder you don make as much money! Hell you're a real musician boy!!!
We could work together anytime if you'd let me.. You do Girl from Ipanema I'm sure. What about Desifinado? It doesn't get any much better then those three, Throw Besame Mucho in there too.

Man if you would have tried to play this with the wrong chords, it would have turned my stomach.
This could be the best commercial tune that many jazz artist played, dance big bands played that I've heard on this forum played live. Any entertainer can use sequences. Not many will attempt to sing this tune in tune and hit all of the right notes. Only the best recorded this tune vocally.Andy Williams, Sinatra, Cole, Ella and their friends. Dean Martin would turn my stomach. Way too much uncontrollable vibrato with his voice.

I've got hundreds to play my sax with that I did with my
Korg and BIAB way back when no one here knew anything about sequencing with a keyboard remember? About '99 or 2000 when I first heard the term Arranger. I was rolling in about a month doing a few a day sometimes and didn't know what in hell I was doing. Ha ha.

Very well done instrumental, Tony. I like that you played it "live" as it adds more of your personality to the music.

I like the genre of style you used too...I generally play this with a Slow Jazz Ballad in cut time. Your arrangement adds a more "up" feeling to the tune.

Keep 'em coming...it's a real treat to hear your music.

boo and Ian ... thank you for your very kind words ... yes, boo, I play all the songs you mentioned ...
I generally like to play with styles and have 'customized' the voices on many of them for certain songs ...
A lot of my OMB work has been in restaurants or CC playing for the dinner crowd, so I actually feel I have more flexibility using styles ... I am able to jump from a Latin to a Swing style in the same song, as I want...

that's not to say I don't use SMFs for certain songs, but there too I have usually done a fair bit of 'customizing' and have even created a couple of 'backing tracks' where I play over the chord progression ...
I very much appreciate the fact that you are enjoying my instrumentals, as -knowing my limitations- I am often reluctant to do them for other musicians ...
My chords are generally right out of the book, and my 'ad lib solos stay right around the chord progression' ...

Stay tuned for more ... as the saying goes "be careful what you ask for..." grin
