Hello to all,
While I am slowly entering from analoge to digital envirement, I found out I need a midipatchbay (hardware), so I am interested who has experience with these devices.
The products I found which will serve my needs are;
Motu - midiexpress xt - available, but no windows drivers yet.
Midimen - midisport 8x8 - available june 2000
Are there any other brands making these devices???
Fred
note; forgot to mention .. 19" rack version!

I like Opcode. www.opcode.com
make sure you have as many INS as OUTS and if possible, spring for one with more ins/outs than you need at the moment. There is nothing worse than buying a 4x4 and then adding 1 or 2 synths or effects to the setup.

I'll go along with WS, I've been using the same Opcode Studio4 for well over 7 years and have never had a problem. There's some question as to Opcodes' and OMSs future but I really don't see the Studio4 as becoming obsolete. I regularly see people selling a Studio4, so it might be worth your while to keep your eyes on the various classified sites.

Thanks guys for replying, anyway I found quite a lot more is originally mentionned and decided to buy an Emagic as it was in stock, the best price and has windows software included.
(8 ins + 8 outs)

Hey, where did you buy it from? Do you have a web address? I'm looking for a MIDI patch bay, too. 8x8, most likely, and rack-mountable.

As Logic Audio comes from E-magic as well, this might be a good choice for you.
I don't know where you're located, but in Europe the E-magic was the best priced.
Originally I wanted the Motu, but there are no windows drivers available yet and it was more expensive in Europe.

For your info;
Allthough it is not advertised on the webpages of E-Magic , the ATM8 works perfect with my CWPA 8 ! As long as you have the instrument patches for your midi gear, you can load them all at the same time and set up each track for each instrument.
I guess they don't advertise this as they want to sell Logic Audio.

If you need smpt and video sync. you will have to go for the Unitor II
