First demo that shows how a modern dance musician might use the keyboard.

Great variety of listening. I had no idea that this instrument could produce such intensity of sound.

That said I need to learn Polish clap

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see anybody who takes the Dance scene seriously would pay over 4 grand for doing something they might be able to do for a fraction of the price on a laptop!

First a bit "OVER Dramatic" by the demonstrators surprised ....that's said, sonically it sounds really good clap ....
Honestly jury is still out watching this demo and a few others if it's that much better then the T4?.....if so can someone elaborate on why that is? confused1 Or is it that it's just a NEW Unit?..S950/T4,T5, it's a close call I'd say. headphone Is it that they are ALL that good that its hard to improve upon other then the adding on of more Audio styles, Ensemble, and some Modeling guitar DSP efx? Just trying to sough it all out and get a grip on what might be on the horizon for the new S series unit due out soon.

I loved it.

Donny, what exactly are you looking for????

You keep saying it's not better than a T4, but you've never owned a Tyros. How can you judge it sonically, from demos? Mp3 files?

Correction yes I have owned and performed with my T2,....and have owned almost and performed extensively with every MOTL Yamaha arranger since the PSR9k thru the years & beyond so I think I'm qualified to give an informative opinion judging by the demos, videos, etc, I have seen & heard so far,....Maybe it will change after I actually play one who knows, I just want people to be honest and explain to me why the T5 vs the T4 has a soniclly better sound that's all. I still say it not that much different at this point......
I hope I'm proved wrong we'll see. I seriously tink that today most TOTL/MOTL arrangers are so close in sound an dfeatures year after year it gets harder for manufacturers to really WOW us anymore. shocked Btw I like hot sausage and garlic on my Pizza,....just sayin' wink

Danny, as you write, you are wrong :-). I make my living doing live dance music, and have owned every Yamaha TOTL and MOTL arranger since the PSR-8000, and a couple of the Korg's too. Having a good keyboard is the best investment possible, and (if you're any good) pays for itself in days.

Thank you, I stand corrected then as I am very sure people do use these keyboards for this type of music, however, I (myself) have yet to see an arranger keyboard being used for the type of music in the realm of DJ Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta or any other trance / club dance / funky house etc...

Danny I agree trying to do "TODAYS TOP TOP 40 DANCE MUSIC ON AN ARRANGER KB IN A PROFESSIONAL STAGE PERFORMANCE GIG SCENARIO LIVE" is a stretch for sure especially as a OMB surprised doing a 4 or 5 hour gig playing and singing with styles alone,...dance crowds want to hear what they hear on the radio, TV, etc, etc, so they can party hearty,...AKB have their place & limitations as does any instrument.....I respect both art forms,...there is room for us all. I think they make both stronger also.

Hey Danny,
I have at least 20 Songs in my set up to do Dance Trance Stuff.
There are some great Styles in the Tyros as well as many song specific Dance/Trance Styles on the Yamaha Website.
Plus I have created a few of my own using Style Assembly.
I couldn't do a whole night, but the Tyros is a very capable all round machine. wink
Just my opinion...

dance Did I already say I liked this vid??

A few other observations......

The demos of the guitars and effects at 1:04:18 is excellent. The flamenco demo was awesome!!

I think organ world is going to be my new favorites. I have an old conn organ I gutted to control a program called MiditZer. Nice emulation of a Mighty Wurlitzer...........

Tyros 5 theater organ demo at 1:26:32 sounds great. The demo of the concert organ at 1:32:28 is the BEST. I had pure tears of joy streaming down my face when the toccata and fugue was playing. I'm gonna have such fun with these new organs. -charley

Hi Eric,

I don't doubt the Tyros is capable, I really like the Dance styles in my T4 and especially in the S950 where there's a few excellent Audio styles in the dance section too.

That's actually really good and I applaud you because I'd actually like to see this more often to be honest. I'm not overly into this type of music any longer (I must be getting old!!!) but I'd actually like it better if it was performed with the skills from musicians like yourself and many others here.

Danny.

What I loved about it pretty much was it was all based on a modern theme, and the presenter was excited about the possibilities of the T5 and by the time he finished so was I. Don't waist time listening on low qual speakers, make sure you plug it in to a quality set. and you will see why they and I are very excited about this release.

One slight and I mean very slight concern is that the VH2 vocaliser has not comer very far as far as harmonies, but the reverbs are superb!

My T5 I believe should be here around 16th December can't wait!

Speaking of dogs (and you were)...

My buddy's brother had a dog that was so stupid...he had to send it to Doggy School to teach him how to bark.

Then, there was my neighbor who had a "Blacksmith Dog"...if you gave it a kick in the arse...he made a bolt for the door.

Speaking of Dance music...(and you were)

My buddy's brother (you remember...the guy with the stupid dog) was a terrible dancer...one night he and his wife got up on the dance floor, and after a few minutes, someone called the paramedics...they thought he was having a seizure.

Wouldn't it be great if they had played it as a true OOTB experience and not spent countless hours programming, sampling, and sequencing to make you think that's how it came OOTB?

I enjoyed several of the performances but there was too much talking and too many lulls. I was nodding off throughout the demo.

Other than the Ensemble feature which has been around in other products for quite some time, I didn't see any cutting edge improvements. At least they have a 76 key model available which is a plus.

Actually no, it was refreshing to see someone doing a demo that actually uses the expandability of the Tyros.

If you want an OOTB experience, get a S950!!! 95% of the T5 for 40% of the price!!!

With black friday and cyber Monday around the corner, you will EASILY find 15% or more off the s950 (About $1600)

Chony,

Why would I want an S950? All it would do is sit in the box and never see the light of day. Not to mention I'd never pay $1600 for one. I guess if Yamaha gave me one I could let my 5 year old nephew play around with it. That way he wouldn't try and play with my pro studio gear.
