Oscar Peterson was one of Diana Kralls mentors. He thought she was tremendous. You really should do a little research before you spoute off such negativity. She spoke a eulogy at his funeral, she is very close to his family. I doubt Oscar Peterson would waste his time with someone he didnt feel had an amazing talent. Which is what he said about her.

Thanks, Donnie... unfortunately for us, she won't be appearing in scenic and quaint little Glen Rose, Texas anytime soon... but we'd sure love to entice her to our little part of the world. Wow, that was impressive. I don't know which part I enjoyed the most but I really appreciated the soft style she exhibited during the bass break. Unbelievably good! Muchas Gracias, Amigo! ---Dave Rice

She's the best! She's forgotten more music than most of us know. I saw her in person several years ago and she completely blew me away. And her voice is amazing too. She can stretch a note over more pitches than I knew were between 2 notes. This is a jazz artist of the first degree.

Thanks Donny
This performance gives me a deeper appreciation of the fine artist.

I recently heard a rebroadcast of a Podcast of Diana Krall she was the guest on Marian McPartland's NPR piano jazz. Interesting I never had a clue how close she was to Oscar until she spoke of being invited to his home for dinner. After dinner Oscar asked whether she wanted to go the to piano(s) and play. As I recall in the interview Diana was about to decline but instead put all her fears away and went for it, she was also 7 months pregnant with twins when the podcast was recorded. You really need to listen to the podcast to get the full story.

I believe you'll find the full version here: http://www.npr.org/2013/03/22/175052067/diana-krall-on-piano-jazz

If you use iTunes you can subscribe to "Piano Jazz Shorts" there.

Yup as Eric wrote, "she's the real deal"

Thanks, Donnie. Met Oscar briefly in Lexington in the early 80's when he worked the Singletary Center. A friend had been his understudy and piano tech for years.

Never met Diana, but sure would like to. She got rid of one ugly old man (Elvis Costello)...think she's be interested in another? LOL!

Serious talent. I never understood some of the criticism she occasionally gets.

We saw Diana Krall at Prov Performing Arts Center several years ago when I think she was known more for her vocals than her piano playing ... FANTASTIC!!! ... on the way out of the concert I commented that as good a vocalist as she is, she might even be a better piano player ... coincidently, the music critic for the Providence newsrag ahd those same words in his review ...

Donny, who is "spouting off negativity" towards Diana Krall? Anyways, she is the "complete package" Great piano player, singer, and very pretty too. What's not to love?
