Tyros 1 was released 10/2002
Tyros 2 was released 10/2005
Tyros 3 was released 9/2008
Tyros 4 was released 9/2010

Tyros 5 released 9/2013 ??

The Tyros series is pretty much over IMO you have to admit it was a good run but times and technology needs are changing fast and Yamaha although the leader like everyone else will have to keep up to stay in the game always being on the cutting edge,.....I'm sure Yamaha will have a totally new concept & design in Arranger KBs...when?...you'll just have to wait and see,....meanwhile there is more then enough already out there to make great music if style play etc, is your thing...

Donny... what technology is changing fast? I really don't see much in the way of innovation in either the arranger or WS worlds, lately...

Yamaha's drum audio loop technology is years old, pioneered by Ketron (who have gone FAR beyond simple drum loops). All software arrangers still suffer from poor soundsets to work with (compared to the TOTL hardware ones). What has come out lately that doesn't scream 'same old, same old'?

The Kronos might have stepped up a bit, using streamed SSD samples instead of ROM, and rehashing Karma a bit, but all in all, I don't think anything you could call cutting edge has come out for a few years.

Plenty of life left in the Tyros line (might be time to address those wimpy drums once and for all). Yamaha would be shooting themselves in the foot bringing out anything 'totally new concept & design in Arranger KBs' given how conservative and willing to accept very little in the way of improvement their regular customers seem to be..!

My prediction for the T5? Audio drums, like the S950, but a lot more of them. And a way to quickly load up new ones.

Groundbreaking? Hardly!

The general information going around is that the next TOTL will be a totally new concept, not a continuation of what has gone before.

I have to say I certainly hope so, as the current Tyros is way past its sell by date, lacking many of the features that have been standard on Pro instruments for at least 6 or 7 years.

I am certainly looking forward to it though.

There are also indications that it will be out this autumn rather than spring next year, although as usual we will have to wait and see which (If either) is correct.

Doesn’t seemed to have stopped sales in Europe or China where they are selling well, (Although there is only 1 at the moment and it’s not TOTL price wise) remember different countries like different sounds so don’t assume everyone wants the same.

Hi all,
In the meantime I've put together a home unit that will ease the anticipation and have me satisfaction for quite a while.. A room to create and displace myself from the daily grind

Kindest regards...
