Can Garage Band app for my Ipad record from a keyboard?

You can use a cheap, ($39) 1/4" input interface to get audio into garage band. It uses the headphone jack as both input and output. You can plug phones in, or use a line out to a monitor system too. iRig makes one, Line six, Peavey ... lots to choose from.

Here's a cool, little iPad MINI holder I found on Amazon - it mounts right to a standard 5/8" mic thread!
