hi friends; i got my pen 2 days a go and i installed new sounds of audya..i used at 2 gigs at the weekend and now i'd like to share my opinions and wanna hear yours..

there are some pros and cons for me..

Pros; new sounds are really good.. new guitars sax and brass i really enjoy it when i playing..especially basses realy clean. new rhytims also good

Cons; i did not like new midi drum sets..old was better.. especially kicks very very soft not strong.

overall sound; high frequencys are so dominant.. i am stiil working with eq..my opinion is;it loosed live sound

new vce voices;cant compare with yamahas super art. voices..only some clicks and breath (like asthmatic )..but better than nothing..

there are noises in some audio rithms and voices..

and many bugs...saparete outputs dont work properly, cursor too...

let me hear your opinions...regards

Hi Necdetdoni,

for me the pros and cons:

New refactored sounds:
Very good!!

VCE:
Very good, maybe there will be more effects in the future

Styles:
More balanced, you're right, kicks on the drums are softer. For me its ok, but I think this is really subjective. The question is, if the drum sets have changed or if the style settings have changed. If the styles have changed, maybe you can use the old ones, as long you made a copy - I did not.

General cons:
Style editor: It is not possible to copy for example Chord5 to Chord3 of the same or also of a different style. With my old XD3 it is possible on an easy way. Simple Use case: I have for example an SD1 style and I want to have live guitars in (to be on Chord5). But I want also the midi from Chord5. So what to do. I want to copy the chord5 midi part to the chord3, as I for example do not need the chord3. Only simple things, but it does not work.

User live guitars: Feature was simply not tested by Ketron - the bug is more than obvious.

It is still not possible to open legacy styles from e.g. MS series. As this are styles with only 3 chords it is perfectly to use it for the new style features of the Audya like live guitars and arps.

In general I like the new version, but there are still some bugs to fix. Here I don't understand, why to re-event the wheel e.g. on the style editor but having a running one on the older products. Not sure, but I think they are portable.

What I really don't like is this typical "Banana politics" --> The product matures/ripens at the customer.

Joe

necdetdoni,

You can EDIT the Midi settings (which is pretty much what we did) and obtain the previous Drum Sets which you liked.

There is a new EQ provided for the Live Drums (separate) where you can boost the lower frequencies (STYLE MODE - U2-DRUM1/2). Here, you can select the Bass (F3) and Trebble (F4) frequencies to adjust accordingly to obtain that 'punchy' feel.

Chord copy in STYLE EDITOR:- Here it get's tricky and we had to make some adjustments. Chord5 is the only Chord track that is capable of handling both AUDIO and MIDI (with regards to the chords) which is why we only allowed chord copy between the same tracks; otherwise, you run into a situation where someone tries to copy audio tracks from Chord 5 into Chord 2 which won't work.

User Live Guitars:- We're working on that one (multiple display).

Legacy/MS styles:- To old for compatibility.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

AJ
